  1. 'Compton can count himself as pretty unlucky'published at 12:13 British Summer Time 8 April

    Kent 284 & 15-2 v Somerset 403

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

I think Ben Compton can count himself as pretty unlucky.

It was a dreadful delivery from Jake Ball, miles down the leg side and he went to take advantage of it and in the umpire's opinion was he got an edge to it.

It was a good catch by James Rew.

Since then, Kent have also lost a second wicket...

  2. Early lunch at Headingleypublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 8 April

    Yorkshire 72-2 v Leicestershire 354

The umpires have inspected and the plan is to take an early lunch at Headingley at 12:30 BST.

They will next inspect the ground at 12:45.

  3. Postpublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 8 April

    Sussex 433-8 v Northants 371

Lovely shot by Ollie Robinson, whipping a Tremain leg side half tracker through mid wicket for four.

Maximum batting points are nearly in reach for Sussex.

  4. 'Captains shake hands on a draw'published at 12:10 British Summer Time 8 April

Durham v Hampshire - match abandoned

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

The captains have shaken hands on a draw at midday on day four. Game abandoned without a ball bowled.

  5. 150 runs

for Ryan Higginspublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 8 April

    Middlesex 506-6 v Glamorgan 620-3 dec

Ryan Higgins guides a Mir Hamza delivery down to the vacant boundary at third man to reach his 150.

Middlesex are now over 500 as the runs keep coming in this match.

Higgins needs 49 more to match his career-best score of 199, and he is not yet halfway to Sam Northeast's 335 not out!

  6. Match abandoned at Riversidepublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 8 April

Durham v Hampshire - match abandoned

The latest inspection has done little to allay fears over a damp outfield - and given that more rain is likely to come this afternoon, this game has been called off.

  7. 50 runs

50 for Jack Carsonpublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 8 April

    Sussex 425-8 v Northants 371

Ollie Robinson tries to flick Tremain over the keeper's head but doesn't make contact on this occasion.

Michael Finan bowls for the first time today and Carson stays in the crease, reaching out for a wide ball and dabbing to point for a single.

That brings up his ninth career 50 in 40 balls with four fours and three sixes.

  8. wicket

WICKET Muyeye c Banton b Davey 7published at 12:05 British Summer Time 8 April

    Kent 284 & 10-2 v Somerset 4-3

Both openers gone inside five overs!

Tawanda Muyeye picks out Tom Banton at point and Somerset have a second wicket. They might be sniffing an unlikely win here...

Jack Leaning joins his captain Daniel Bell-Drummond in the middle.

  9. wicket

WICKET Slater c Harmer b Cook 3published at 12:02 British Summer Time 8 April

    Notts 293 & 18-3 v Essex 253 & 374-9 dec

Fabulous stuff again from Sam Cook.

Ben Slater comes and goes as Cook, coming round the wicket, puts it in that awkward spot on a good length on and around off-stump.

Slater is drawn forward and it is well pouched by the safe hands of Simon Harmer at second slip.

The Notts innings is in tatters!

  10. wicket

WICKET Compton c Rew b Ball 3published at 12:00 British Summer Time 8 April

    Kent 284 & 10-1 v Somerset 403

Jake Ball sends one down the leg side and Ben Compton's eyes light up... but he feathers an edge behind to the wicketkeeper James Rew and is the first man to go.

    It's Ball's first Somerset wicket.

Kent captain Daniel Bell-Drummond heads to the crease at number three.

  11. 'Terrific stuff this from the Essex seamers'published at 11:59 British Summer Time 8 April

    Notts 293 & 17-2 v Essex 253 & 374-9 dec

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham

Terrific stuff this from the Essex seamers and both openers have now gone.

There's been times in this game when Essex have been slightly on the back foot; Nottinghamshire building a first-innings lead of 40 and it looked as if it was going to be far more until Sam Cook picked up a hat-trick - bang, bang, bang.

Well, he's also doing damage to Nottinghamshire's hopes here on day four.

  12. wicket

    WICKET Hudson-Prentice c Bartlett b Tremain 73published at 11:57 British Summer Time 8 April

    Sussex 418-8 v Northants 371

The first wicket of the county season for Chris Tremain comes probably too late to change the course of this match.

In truth it's a bit of a leg stump half volley. Hudson-Prentice is down the track and lofts a drive to George Bartlett at long on.

The new batter is Ollie Robinson.

  13. Further Edgbaston pitch inspection at 12:00 BSTpublished at 11:57 British Summer Time 8 April

    Warwks 333 v Worcs 360 & 237-2

The weather has really caught up with this game after just the one session of play lost up to the end of day three.

The clouds are slate grey and there are still concerns over damp patches in the field after overnight rain.

  14. Postpublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 8 April

    Notts 293 & 17-2 v Essex 253 & 374-9 dec

Joe Clarke is the new batter and is struck on the pads first up by Sam Cook.

    Not out.

But the target of 335 suddenly looks miles away for Notts.

  15. Postpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 8 April

    Sussex 418-7 v Northants 371

Sussex have a pretty useful tail! You heard it here first.

The Sussex number nine Jack Carson moves to 47 off 35 balls with a mighty straight drive all along the ground for four runs.

  16. wicket

WICKET Hameed b Cook 10published at 11:53 British Summer Time 8 April

    Notts 293 & 17-2 v Essex 253 & 374-9 dec

    Sam Cook, you absolute ripper!

Haseeb Hameed's off-pole is lying on the floor and both Notts openers are back in the hutch.

Superb stuff from the Essex seamer!

  17. Postpublished at 11:52 British Summer Time 8 April

    Notts 293 & 17-1 v Essex 253 & 374-9 dec

Ben Slater is the new batter and he gets off the mark with a nice offside push for two.

Then at the other end, Sam Cook cuts Haseeb Hameed in half with a super delivery that jags back.

Cook and Porter really are one of the best new-ball pairs on the circuit.

  18. Postpublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 8 April

    Sussex 407-7 v Northants 371

Jack Carson is on for his ninth first-class 50 here.

He brings up the 50 partnership with Fynn Hudson-Prentice via a flashing drive off Chris Tremain to long off for one.

    Just 40 balls for that.

  19. wicket

WICKET Duckett b Porter 5published at 11:47 British Summer Time 8 April

    Notts 293 & 15-1 v Essex 253 & 374-9 dec

Ben Duckett bowled by Jamie PorterImage source, Rex Features

    Ben Duckett is out!

What a response from Jamie Porter as coming round the wicket, he uproots Duckett's off-stump.

That is a fantastic delivery and a great sight for an opening bowler!

Notts' task has got a whole lot harder.

  20. Carson dropped on 38 as Sussex pass 400 at Hovepublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 8 April

    Sussex 405-7 v Northants 371

Fynn Hudson-Prentice is forward to Ben Sanderson, driving an easy single to long off. Earlier today, Sanderson took his 490th Northants wicket in all formats with the dismissal of Danny Lamb.

That puts him level with Neil Mallender for the club.

A rare Sanderson no-ball is followed two deliveries later by a short ball hooked over square leg for six.

Four more runs to Jack Carson with a whipped push through mid on. That brings up the Sussex 400 in the 89th over.

Carson swats the last ball to long on... he's dropped by Luke Procter and runs two.
