    Notts 293 & 15-0 v Essex 293 & 374-9 dec

    Beautiful shot from Ben Duckett.

A touch short and on the pads from Jamie Porter, but that is beautiful timing from Duckett.

It beats the two men in the legside and makes its way over the ropes.

  2. 'Essex couldn't have written the script any better'published at 11:44 British Summer Time 8 April

    Notts 11-0 - target 335

    Paul Newton
    BBC Essex

From an Essex point of view, they couldn't have written the script any better than it has actually turned out.

They've got that facility to have eight overs with the second new ball. Obviously that would depend on all 88 being available.

The forecast I've seen suggests a danger period between 14:00 and 16:00.

  3. Postpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 8 April

    Kent 284 & 0-0 v Somerset 403

Ben Compton and Tawanda Muyeye are opening up for Kent with 87 scheduled overs of day four remaining and a deficit of 119 to erode.

Both made starts in the first innings before being removed in the thirties.

Josh Davey with the new ball.

Ben Duckett gets a single off his first ball and Haseeb Hameed gets the strike again.

And the skipper hits a second boundary, this time through the offside.

Hameed moves onto 10 off nine balls.

  5. Postpublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 8 April

    Notts 293 & 6-0 v Essex 253 & 374-9 dec

Haseeb Hameed tucks the first ball into the legside for a couple.

And when Jamie Porter strays onto the pads again, he sends it to midwicket for four.

Six off the first over. Now Ben Duckett to face Sam Cook.

  6. Postpublished at 11:38 British Summer Time 8 April

    Sussex 390-7 v Northants 371

Sussex are a couple of maximums away from a fourth batting point - and Jack Carson pulls Tremain to mid-wicket. Stopped by Saif Zaib.

Carson gets one with a back foot nudge to backward point.

Tremain tries to york Hedson-Prentice who digs the ball out.

The last ball is short and swiped to deep mid wicket for one.

  10. 'A fine knock from Snater'published at 11:33 British Summer Time 8 April

    Notts 293 v Essex 253 & 374-9 dec

    Dave Bracegirdle

A fine knock from Shane Snater, he needed to get on with it this morning and he has done very nicely indeed.

  11. 'Disappointing dismissal'published at 11:32 British Summer Time 8 April

    Middlesex 471-6 v Glamorgan 620-3 dec

    Roland Butcher
Former Middlesex and England batter on BBC Radio London

Very disappointing dismissal from Josh de Caires, it was so, so simple.

It was a fairly innocuous delivery and he's just lobbed it back to the bowler to takes it gleefully.

  12. 6 runs

Sussex surge aheadpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 8 April

    Sussex 388-7 v Northants 371

That's a stylish shot to put Sussex in front on first innings.

Jack Carson clips Sanderson neatly in front of square leg for four and lofts the next ball over wide mid on for six!

He's nearly caught next ball as Carson lofts to backward square.

George Bartlett does well to get there but he's accidentally palmed the ball over the rope for another six.

  13. 400 up for Somersetpublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 8 April

    Kent 284 v Somerset 400-9

Josh Davey helps himself to a single down to fine leg and Somerset get that fourth batting bonus point with two balls to spare.

  14. Essex declarepublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 8 April

    Notts 293 v Essex 253 & 374-9 dec

No.11 Jamie Porter comes out to the middle.

He wallops his first ball to the boundary and then promptly heads back to the pavilion.

Essex declare and set Notts 335 to win in 88 overs.

    Game on!

  15. Postpublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 8 April

    Sussex 371-7 v Northants 371

Chris Tremain is having a chat with Lewis McManus and now Justin Broad dons the helmet and moves into forward short leg.

The forecast could best be described as dubious this afternoon so both teams need to get on with it to snap up more bonus points.

Carson rides the bounce well and gently taps the third ball to fine leg for a single.

Hudson-Prentice aims a flashing drive through deep extra but the field is set deep to keep it to one.

Carson keeps the strike with a single to mid wicket. Scores level.

  16. The wait continuespublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 8 April

Durham v Hampshire - delayed start

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

You have to go back to 2008 to find the last time a full game was abandoned without play in Chester-le-Street. It's only happened here twice, but I think today might be the third time.

Back in 2008 it was a game against Notts, in August. The only other occasion was against Hampshire, in 1997, in July.

Of the other two matches lost to the weather involving Durham, both were in April and both were away. They were at The Oval in 2012 and at Northants in 2018.

The umpires have had two inspections this morning and will look again at midday. More rain is due by then and the forecast does not look good for the rest of the afternoon. So it looks like it may well be handshakes and a share of the points.

  17. 6 runs

Postpublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 8 April

    Kent 284 v Somerset 397-9

Jake Ball mows Nathan Gilchrist back over his head for six! Not a bad shot for a number 11!

  18. wicket

WICKET Snater c Pennington b James 47published at 11:23 British Summer Time 8 April

    Notts 293 v Essex 253 & 370-9

Dropped by Joe Clarke the previous ball, Shane Snater sends another ball skywards and Dillon Pennington makes no mistake, sliding in from fine leg.

But Snater's 47 off 46 balls has helped put Essex in an excellent position.

  19. Postpublished at 11:22 British Summer Time 8 April

    Sussex 367-7 v Northants 371

Shot! Jack Carson holds the pose as he lofts Ben Sanderson down the ground for four and he follows that up with a rather ugly swipe to mid-wicket for three.

Single to Fynn Hudson-Prentice off the last ball of the over.

  20. wicket

WICKET de Caires c&b Ingram 20published at 11:21 British Summer Time 8 April

    Middlesex 471-6 v Glamorgan 620-3 dec

No sooner do Middlesex avoid the follow-on and Josh de Caires departs.

A very soft dismissal too, as he dollies up a return catch to Colin Ingram's part-time leg-spin.

You would have thought Josh would have been adept at dealing with a part-time leggie at home with his dad!
