As John Cleese might say, this match is no more. It has ceased to be. It has expired and gone to meet its maker. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. This is an ex-match!

Or in other words, Middlesex have avoided the follow-on against Glamorgan. No parrots have been harmed during the course of this game.

    Notts 293 v Essex 253 & 348-8

    Paul Newton

Jamie Porter is a bit of a prodder so when the next wicket falls it might be an idea for Essex to declare, particularly if they've added another 20 or so in the meantime.

  10. wicket

WICKET Lamb c Tremain b Sanderson 41published at 11:12 British Summer Time 8 April

    Sussex 357-7 v Northants 371

Fine leg is going a little finer for Ben Sanderson as he bowls to Danny Lamb.

Lamb drives - and that's a superb stop by Saif Zaib at cover.

And he's out! Danny Lamb unleashes a full-blooded pull...

Stunning catch by Chris Tremain at mid-wicket!

The force of the shot actually knocks the fielder into the turf, but he holds on.

Jack Carson will have a bat next.

Sam Northeast raises his batImage source, PA Media

Right, just for a bit of fun this Monday morning, all you cricket lovers!

Sam Northeast broke Graham Gooch's Lord's record score on Saturday, which Gooch set against India in 1990.

The former England captain also scored a ton in the second innings. But which four other players scored a century in that Test?

  16. 'We might not be starting very promptly'published at 11:04 British Summer Time 8 April

    Warwks 333 v Worcs 360 & 237-2

    Mike Taylor
    BBC Radio WM

Although there are no covers on the field and it is not raining, there are still the heat lamps that are covering the bowlers' run-ups.

Noting the time and the fact that there is still a lot of warm-up equipment out on the field, it suddenly occurs to me that we might not be starting very promptly after all.

It hasn't been raining here in Birmingham this morning and we are hoping to see a game this morning - and a competitive one at that.

  17. Snater up and runningpublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 8 April

    Notts 293 v Essex 253 & 335-8

Shane Snater is not going to hang around this morning.

He clips one through midwicket off Dillon Pennington for four.

Snater then launches one over mid-off and gets a couple more to the scoreboard.

    Six off the first over.

  18. Somerset looking to extend lead over Kentpublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 8 April

    Kent 284 v Somerset 378-7

Somerset's batting effort on day three means they are almost assured of at least a draw against Kent at Canterbury - but will there be enough time to push for the win?

The pitch didn't appear to have too many demons in it yesterday, so if the visitors can add sufficiently to their current 90-run advantage and then grab a couple of early wickets in Kent's second innings, you never know...

Kasey Aldridge and Josh Davey are at the crease for Somerset, with Nathan Gilchrist starting things with the ball for Kent on day four.

And Aldridge begins with a boundary through the covers! Great start.

  19. Play resumes at Hovepublished at 11:00 British Summer Time 8 April

    Sussex 351-6 v Northants 371

A free-wheeling unbroken partnership of 93 off just 70 balls between Fynn Hudson-Prentice (59 not out) and Danny Lamb on 38 has taken Sussex to safety.

But Northants can still snap up a third bowling point and Sussex can get another batting point, or possibly even the full set of five.

Ben Sanderson will bowl the first ball of the day to Lamb.

  20. Delayed start at Edgbastonpublished at 10:59 British Summer Time 8 April

    Warwks 333 v Worcs 360 & 237-2 - delayed start

No rain at Edgbaston currently but we had showers shortly after tea yesterday and it's pretty murky out there.

    The bowler run-ups are covered.

We're hoping to start shortly after a pitch inspection at 11.30 BST.
