As a spinner, especially in the powerplay, it throws you when England bat how they are now. You’re targeting the stumps but then they move down the crease and turn it into a full ball, you have to think about it and be proactive with your bowling.

  2. Eng 48-1published at 6 overs

A quieter over to finish the powerplay, just the one four from it as Bouchier lofted Iqbal beautifully over the covers.

It's been a positive start from England, despite the loss of Wyatt.

I don’t want to take anything away from Waheeda, I don’t think she’s done a lot wrong, she’s not bowled that badly up until that last ball.

  4. Eng 43-1published at 5 overs

Waheeda Akhtar sends down a nice yorker to deny Capsey a fifth consecutive boundary but the England batter can't be denied for long, clipping the final delivery - a full toss - square for another four.

Pakistan's bowling attack is lacking in pace and it caused England a few problems at Edgbaston with premeditated shots, batters going too early.

But we can see already that they've learned from it. Both Bouchier and Capsey are batting deep in their crease, waiting for the ball and if anything is slightly short, it's sitting up nicely for them to hit.

  6. Eng 39-1published at 4.4 overs

Well, there's those boundaries, Ffion - four of them in fact, and all for Capsey off Akhtar's opening four balls.

Her first is a streaky edge through an empty slip, the second a slap square, the third a lovely back foot punch in front of square this time, the fourth a drive straight down the ground that the fielders couldn't cut off.

She gained confidence with every ball.

Nine balls for two runs for Alice Capsey. This'll be a test for her patience, as she is a naturally aggressive player and would love a boundary to take the pressure off...

  8. Eng 23-1published at 4 overs

First sight of spin for Pakistan as Sadia Iqbal comes into the attack.

She has Alice Capsey stepping back deep into her crease to defend a lovely slider that was ducking dangerously towards leg stump.

Capsey takes a single and Bouchier finishes the over more positively, lashing a four through the covers.

  9. Eng 17-1published at 3 overs

Alice Capsey comes in at three for England and shuffles down the pitch to greet Akhtar's first delivery, but can't get her bat on a slower delivery.

She denies the Pakistan seamer a wicket maiden, taking a single into the covers from her final delivery.

Danni Wyatt, her head’s gone, I personally think that was a lack of execution and she knows it.

    Wyatt b Akhtar 6 (Eng 17-1)

It's one boundary and done for Danni Wyatt!

Waheeda Akhtar has an early wicket once again, Wyatt plays a bit of a swipe and sees her stumps splayed.

    A welcome breakthrough for Pakistan.

  12. Eng 17-0published at 2 overs

Diana Baig is opening the bowling at the other end for Pakistan, the right-arm seamer coming back into the side for her 50th T20 cap.

Danni Wyatt dispatches her penultimate delivery high over the mid-on fielder, the ball bouncing just short of the boundary sponge and then over.

This is a big opportunity for England's top order to right some wrongs after last week's collapse.

Danni Wyatt has plenty of credit in the bank but the likes of Maia Bouchier and Alice Capsey could do with some runs.

Bouchier was brilliant in New Zealand but needs to back it up. It feels harsh on Freya Kemp, boosted up to number five in her first game back from injury at Edgbaston but of course, someone had to make way for Nat Sciver-Brunt.

There's a decent crowd in at Northampton, not quite sold out but with the charm of England's smaller grounds that feel busier and louder than they might actually be.

The square boundaries are very long - I suspect England will have a fair bit of running to do.

Wahida is roughly around 5ft 1ins in height, and she delivers it from a low angle which our girls are not used to, so when they do get that extra bounce on the ball, it can take them by surprise.

  15. Eng 10-0published at 1 over

More joy for Bouchier, picking a short wide delivery from Akhtar and cutting past a despairing point fielder for another boundary.

Akhtar has better luck with her final delivery, sending down a cutter that befuddles Bouchier, passing between her body and bat.

A real valiant effort from Pakistan, what we noticed last time was their lack of good ground fielding, all of that on the first play as well.

  17. Eng 4-0published at 0.1 overs

Waheeda Akhtar is up first for Pakistan - she dismissed Maia Bouchier with her fourth delivery last time out.

It's the England opener who draws first blood here, tucking a ball on the legs away through backward square.

The ball dribbles over a slow outfield and just about beats the chasing fielder to the ropes.

The Pakistan team are jogging out on the field through a corridor of England flags. They're followed by the England openers, Maia Bouchier and Danni Wyatt.

Both were gone within two overs on Saturday, dismissed for 4 and 1 respectively.

Rather obviously, they'll be hoping for better returns tonight...

England were cheered on by a record crowd at Saturday's match at Edgbaston.

12,241 people came through the gates in Birmingham to greet the start of the international summer, the highest ever attendance for a bi-lateral match between England and Pakistan.

With the weather set clear, we're expecting another strong turn-out at Northampton this evening.

Nat feels extremely nervous today, she's got a lot behind her, she's just been named World Player of the Year. I'm feeling for her today, I hope she has a steady game.

It was a bit of a strange situation, because you want to be private but you go through things in life, like being bullied at school or playing for England, being openly gay or going through this fertility journey. The main aim is if we can help one or two people then it's worth the vulnerability we have to go through.
