  1. Howard on the desire that still drives Dubspublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 29 June

Dublin v Galway, Croke Park, 18:15 BST

If Brian Howard's words are anything to go by, inter-county football squads around the country can't forget any notion that Dublin players' desire to accumulate All-Ireland medals is going to diminish any time soon.

Players in other counties are happy to depart the inter-county stage having reached the Sam Maguire summit just once.

  3. Armagh first team into semispublished at 17:57 British Summer Time 29 June

    Armagh 1-12 Roscommon 0-12 FT

The significance of Armagh's fightback against Galway in the third round of group games now comes into sharp focus.

Five points down at one stage, they forced a draw in Markievicz Park that day which gave them the all-important top spot in the group.

The reward for finishing top was an extra week's rest and also ensured they avoided other group winners like Dublin, Kerry and Donegal in the last eight.

In contrast, Galway had to beat Monaghan in the preliminary quarter-final last week and will have known that by failing to finish as group winners, they were going to face a 'toughie' in the last eight. And so it has proved.

They play the All-Ireland champions Dublin in the second part of today's double bill at HQ and must be casting an envious eye at Armagh, who sailed through there without having to dig deep to find their best stuff against a poor challenge from 14-man Roscommon.

Stay with us for Dublin v Galway which throws in in 20 minutes time.

  4. 'I'm happy enough' - Burkepublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 29 June

    FT: Armagh 2-12 Roscommon 0-12

Roscommon manager Davy Burke speaking on GAAGO after the match:

"You probably couldn't script the first half, if you talk about horror shows with the injuries and red card, a bit of a disaster but in fairness to the lads we stuck in there and went in two-points down at half-time and immediately came out and kicked two, so I'm happy enough with that.

"We were very relaxed and controlled. The game was very cagey and going down to 14 men wasn't going to make a huge difference and we came out and showed that after half-time straight away.

"Ultimately the goal from the kick-out probably cost us, so that's difficult as well."

  5. Turbo powered Armagh reach first All-Ireland semi-final since 2005published at 17:51 British Summer Time 29 June

    Armagh 2-12 Roscommon 0-12 (Result)

Armagh marched into their first All-Ireland semi-final since 2005 with a 2-12 to 0-12 win over 14-man Roscommon in a forgettable last-eight encounter at Croke Park.

The Orchard men, who fell in the quarters in 2022 and 2023, led by five after 28 minutes thanks to an impressive 1-1 from wing-back Barry McCambridge, whose attacking enterprise led to him hitting a superb 19th-minute goal.

While Roscommon fought back to trail by just two at the break, their hopes were dashed when midfielder Ruaidhri Fallon was sent off for two bookable offences shortly before half-time.

  6. 'Where we want to be'published at 17:46 British Summer Time 29 June

    Armagh 2-12 Roscommon 0-12 (FT)

Conor Turbitt speaking on GAAGO after the match:

"It's massive for us. The performance there wasn't at our best, I don't know what the stats were, but we've been here [Croke Park] a number of times and played well and come away with nothing.

To get into the semi-final, that's where we want to be."

  7. 'Strong performance from Armagh'published at 17:44 British Summer Time 29 June

    FT: Armagh 2-12 Roscommon 0-12

    Michael Murphy
Former Donegal captain and All-Ireland winner on GAAGO

It was a really strong performance in that last period from Armagh.

They did enough to get there, they trudged along for most parts.

Defensively they put a real strong hold on that Roscommon front line. Armagh's rear guard will always keep them strong in games. They struggled for a bit today but in that last quarter they racked up the points.

Not a bad way to go into an All-Ireland semi-final.

    Armagh 2-12 Roscommon 0-12

    Armagh have done it!

Oisin Conaty scores twice in injury time and it's pure joy for the Orchard men!

It's hard to believe Armagh veterans like Forker, Grugan and Campbell have never played in an All-Ireland semi-final but they are going to get their chance in two weeks time.

They were far from convincing today at times, but given their All-Ireland quarter-final record and the recent baggage of losing to Galway and Monaghan on penalties at this stage in 2022 and 2023, all that mattered to Armagh was getting over the line.

Armagh are definitely deserving of this one.

Roscommon just didn't do enough, it has been lacklustre up front with the nine wides.

    Armagh 2-8 Roscommon 0-9

Roscommon are looking like the team who've played three weeks in a row. The legs are heavy and they are out of ideas.

This is their first time on the All-Ireland quarter-final stage since 2017 and they will surely want to give everything they have in the last 10 minutes.

But Armagh are well in control.

Roscommon have given as much as they can in this game so far but they need to push up now.

There's an All-Ireland semi-final still at stake. There's 10 minutes to go. They have to have a crack and have a go at this now.

McQuillan was only on as a blood sub for Aidan Forker, who is back on.
