The 187 riders remaining in the Tour de France paid their respects to the victims in Nice with a minute's silence before today's stage began in Montelimar.
It was a difficult day yesterday as Le Tour got to grips with events in Nice.
The tone was thoughtful and contemplative.
We were reminded that this is, after all, just a cycling race - but one that we enjoy very much.
And we should make the most of the moments we enjoy when they happen upon us.
