    "I rode the best TT I could. I went out conservatively, maybe too conservatively, but it's just what I had," Geraint Thomas told ITV4.

    "I didn't feel 100% but I don't want to bang on about that. I tried to do what I could and it wasn't enough.

    "It was decent pace but not enough power. I didn't know what to expect, I woke up this morning and felt terrible but once I got going it was better. I've just to crack on and deal with it."

    "Today was a really good day for me, luckily I had perfect conditions," said Tadej Pogacar.

    "I checked out the course because last the few TTs I made mistakes starting too fast but here I paced myself well and did a perfect rhythm to the end.

    "The goal was not to lose time but I gained time so I'm super happy and excited for the whole Tour.

    "I would love to have the yellow jersey but it also looks super nice on Mathieu!"

    He finishes fifth in the TT and loses 31 seconds to Tadej Pogacar.

    It's enough to keep the yellow jersey by eight seconds.

    They are the two big winners today. For most others, it was just about limiting losses.
