Wout van Aert takes his place in the GC group after keeping his fingers firmly on the brakes for most of the first half of this 30km descent.
Adam Yates manages to get across to the yellow jersey group and gets straight down to have a natter with his Ineos Grenadiers team-mate Geraint Thomas.
Geraint Thomas is at the front of the yellow jersey group, coasting along and taking a gel on board all at 80kmh.
Romain Bardet and Geraint Thomas bridge across to Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard.
Wout van Aert is over the climb and has apparently changed bikes. Something better for the descent?
Warren Barguil crests the Col du Galibier. He takes the souvenir Henri Desgrange and 20 points in the KOM competition, plus 5,000 euros.
Tadej Pogacar ups the tempo again and saunters over to Romain Bardet, with Jonas Vingegaard still on his wheel.

There are bikes resting on the rock face all the way up this part of the Col du Galibier as Warren Barguil continues to press on to the summit.

Back in the GC group Romain Bardet catches and then passes the yellow jersey.
