  1. Wout van Aert takes his place in the GC group after keeping his fingers firmly on the brakes for most of the first half of this 30km descent.

  2. Adam Yates manages to get across to the yellow jersey group and gets straight down to have a natter with his Ineos Grenadiers team-mate Geraint Thomas.

  3. Geraint Thomas is at the front of the yellow jersey group, coasting along and taking a gel on board all at 80kmh.

  4. Romain Bardet and Geraint Thomas bridge across to Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard.

  5. Wout van Aert is over the climb and has apparently changed bikes. Something better for the descent?

  6. Warren Barguil crests the Col du Galibier. He takes the souvenir Henri Desgrange and 20 points in the KOM competition, plus 5,000 euros.

  7. Tadej Pogacar ups the tempo again and saunters over to Romain Bardet, with Jonas Vingegaard still on his wheel.

    Geraint Thomas is struggling...Romain Bardet as well.

  8. There are bikes resting on the rock face all the way up this part of the Col du Galibier as Warren Barguil continues to press on to the summit.

    Simon Geschke in the polka-dot jersey is about a minute down on the Frenchman.

    Back in the GC group Romain Bardet catches and then passes the yellow jersey.

  9. Romain Bardet is bringing Geraint Thomas back up to Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard.

  10. Geraint Thomas, Romain Bardet and Steven Kruijswijk form a three-man group. They are about 20 seconds behind Pogacar and Vingegaard.

  11. Tadej Pogacar attacks...Jonas Vingegaard goes with him.

    Geraint Thomas is finally dislodged. The 2018 champion has Romain Bardet for company... Sepp Kuss and Steven Kruijswijk had popped juts before that.

  12. Adam Yates has caught Primoz Roglic.

    Tom Pidcock is in the group with David Gaudu and Enric Mas.

  13. Tadej Pogacar shifts and distances Primoz Roglic and Nairo Quintana.

    Sepp Kuss shuts that move down. Geraint Thomas is still there as is Romain Bardet.

  14. Primoz Roglic puts the hammer down and the GC group splits immediately.

    Tadej Pogacar is now isolated with four Jumbo-Visma riders, Geraint Thomas and Nairo Quintana.

  16. Warren Barguil goes solo at the front of the race.

  17. Tiesj Benoot takes control at the front of the GC group. Jumbo-Visma still have Wout van Aert up the road as well.

  18. The big GC group is back together...

    Ineos Grenadiers have Adam Yates and Tom Pidcock join Adam Yates. David Gaudu, Romain Bardet, Enric Mas and Nairo Quintana are also in attendance.

    Marc Soler plays the role of pacemaker again. Quite how long that'll last is anyone's guess.

  19. Primoz Roglic puts his foot on the gas as Marc Soler gets over.

    The Spaniard latches on to the back of the four-man GC group slips off and applies the power to reconnect, riding up to Roglic and giving him a look that could kill.

  20. Back down the road, Adam Yates and Tom Pidcock are in the third group of riders...
