  1. Middlesex into lead against Gloucspublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 28 April

    Gloucs 322 v Middlesex 203 & 120-3

An important landmark for Middlesex, who are out of the red as Max Holden steers Graeme van Buuren away for a single.

The Gloucestershire skipper's left-arm spin should help speed up the over rate, with 25 still scheduled to be bowled tonight.

  2. Postpublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 28 April

    Surrey 359 v Hampshire 151 & 72-3

A stoppage here as James Vince receives treatment after a taking a blow from a Gus Atkinson bouncer.

Atkinson dug one in short and it appeared to clip Vince on the helmet as he ducked, but it looks as though the Hampshire captain is fine to continue.

He's on 21, with Tom Prest making 13 so far after the early departure of Nick Gubbins.

  3. 'Still a lot of work to do for Hampshire'published at 17:29 British Summer Time 28 April

    Surrey 359 v Hampshire 151 & 72-3

    Roland Butcher
Former Middlesex and England batter on BBC Radio London

There's still a lot of work to be done by Hampshire despite this partnership by James Vince and Tom Prest developing nicely.

  4. 50 runs

Half-century for Ed Barnardpublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 28 April

    Notts 400, Warwickshire 143-4

    Ed Barnard completes his 29th first-class half-century.

It is his first of the season - and fourth for Warwickshire.

And, given how many of his former Worcestershire team-mates are in the Notts team, including his former Shropshire and England Under-19s colleague Joe Clarke, this one will have meant a lot.

Still much work to do, although his stand of 59 so far with Jacob Bethell is a big step in the right direction. After resuming on 71-3, 72 runs added today so far.

  5. Half-century for Max Holdenpublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 28 April

    Gloucs 322 v Middlesex 203 & 114-3

Good knock by Max Holden, who punches Zaman Akhter to the fence at long on to bring up his half-century from 83 balls.

It's the 19th time Holden has passed 50 in red-ball cricket and Middlesex would love him to convert it into a century here.

For now, the focus is on wiping out their remaining five-run deficit and building some kind of lead over Gloucestershire.

  6. wicket

WICKET: J Holder lbw b Gregory 12published at 17:21 British Summer Time 28 April

    Somerset 309-9 dec, Worcestershire 349-7

Jason Holder follows the trend this afternoon of what happens when you clout Shoaib Bashir for six... you get out shortly after!

This time Lewis Gregory exacts revenge on the young spinner's behalf by trapping Holder for 12.

The ex-West Indies skipper only had three scoring shots. A six, a four, a two and out.

Matthew Waite is a very handy man to have coming in at number nine.

  7. 'All about bonus points for the moment'published at 17:12 British Summer Time 28 April

    Notts 400, Warwickshire 114-4

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

It is all about bonus points for the moment.

If Notts can knock over two or three then they might just suddenly think: 'Hang on, we could really go on and force something here'.

For Warwickshire, it'll be about just batting sensibly to try to get up to the first bonus point mark at 250 and see where they can get to.

  8. Postpublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 28 April

    Surrey 359 v Hampshire 151 & 59-3

James Vince is digging in here, which is exactly what Hampshire need their captain to do in this situation.

Vince clipped Jordan Clark off his pads for an early boundary, but since then it's been mostly about occupying the crease and he's now reached 13 from 59 balls.

Tom Prest is on nine and Hampshire have brought the deficit below 150.

  9. 6 runs

Jason Holder off the mark with a sixpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 28 April

    Somerset 309-9 dec, Worcestershire 332-6

Jason Holder gets in on the railway action as he is off the mark at Chester Road with a straight six.

Shoaib Bashir is again the bowler to suffer as he is planted onto the Birmingham-Great Malvern line for the fourth time.

What else has former West Indies skipper Holder got up his sleeve?

Batting with Pears captain Brett D'Oliveira is certainly an interesting clash of respective statures. They are at opposite ends of cricket's height scale.

  10. Postpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 28 April

    Surrey 359 v Hampshire 151 & 51-3

A certain amount of relief for Tom Prest, who avoids the spectacle of a 'pair' by caressing a full-length delivery from Jordan Clark past mid-off to the rope.

Prest follows that with a similar stroke - and outcome - in the next over against Dan Worrall, lifting Hampshire's total beyond 50. Still some way off the 208 they need to make Surrey bat again, however.

  11. 100 runs

Bears go past 100published at 16:56 British Summer Time 28 April

    Notts 400, Warwickshire 106-4

    Three figures up for Warwickshire.

Jacob Bethell has made a bright start with three fours in his 16.

Ed Barnard then clubs Olly Stone for his first boundary of the day to move to 32.

  12. 'Somerset will be happy to see the back of Roderick'published at 16:55 British Summer Time 28 April

    Somerset 309-9 dec, Worcestershire 325-6

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

A fine innings by Gareth Roderick.

    He's scored 122 from 220 deliveries with 14 fours and a six.

Somerset will be very happy indeed to see the back of Gareth Roderick, not least because they've picked up another bowling point.

  13. wicket

WICKET: Roderick c Banton b Ball 122published at 16:51 British Summer Time 28 April

    Somerset 309-9 dec, Worcestershire 322-6

    Gareth Roderick is out.

The Worcestershire centurion's knock comes to an end as he toes a Jake Ball delivery to mid off, where Tom Banton takes a fine catch.

It is a third wicket for former England paceman Ball, Somerset's winter signing from Notts.

New man in is former West Indies captain Jason Holder.

  14. wicket

WICKET: Du Plooy c Dent b Goodman 30published at 16:46 British Summer Time 28 April

    Gloucs 322 v Middlesex 203 & 79-3

Big wicket for Gloucestershire and a second of the innings for Dom Goodman!

Leus du Plooy cuts Goodman towards backward point, where Chris Dent dives to pull off an impressive catch and remove Middlesex's stand-in captain.

That brings Ryan Higgins to the middle, with Middlesex still 40 behind and needing some runs from him on the ground where he used to ply his trade.

  15. 'I did not think we'd be in this situation'published at 16:44 British Summer Time 28 April

    Surrey 359 v Hampshire 151 & 35-2

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

This looks like a different place to the one when I arrived at 9:15 this morning.

It looked wet. The covers were all over the place. There were puddles.

No way did I think at this point in the afternoon that we'd be in this situation.

The ground looks as though there hasn't been a drop of rain on it.

"It's been an amazing effort from the groundstaff to actually get something under way," agrees BBC Radio London's Dan Whiting. "I'd imagine there will be a little be of nip in this wicket. The ball isn't that old, so you'll have some life in it."

  16. 6 runs

Six for Roderick off Bashirpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 28 April

    Somerset 309-9 dec, Worcestershire 320-5

England new boy Shoaib Bashir has taken two wickets today - but he has also been slammed for three sixes.

Gareth Roderick is the latest to clear the rope - to follow the lead earlier set by Kashif Ali and Adam Hose.

To give Bashir and Somerset some hope, both Kashif and Hose then got out shortly after.

  17. wicket

WICKET: Gubbins c Pope b Worrall 10published at 16:42 British Summer Time 28 April

    Surrey 359 v Hampshire 151 & 41-3

Third over of the session and Dan Worrall has the breakthrough for Surrey already!

Worrall slants the ball across left-hander Nick Gubbins and finds the edge, with Ollie Pope reacting quickly to collect a low catch at second slip.

Hampshire are three down as Tom Prest comes to the crease on a pair.

  18. Into the final session at Kidderminsterpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 28 April

    Somerset 309-9 dec, Worcestershire 314-5

We are back under way again after tea at Chester Road.

  19. Six for Du Plooypublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 28 April

    Gloucs 322 v Middlesex 203 & 72-2

Only four balls into the evening session - and the umpires have already called for a new one!

That's because the ball that Marchant de Lange used to begin the over has been ruthlessly deposited in the direction of the flats overlooking the Nevil Road ground by Leus du Plooy.

Du Plooy likes giving fast bowlers the charge when he can - and that destructive shot even earns him a round of applause from a shell-shocked De Lange!

  20. 'Mousley will be disappointed'published at 16:33 British Summer Time 28 April

    Notts 400, Warwickshire 85-4

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire

Dan Mousley was playing it across the line. He likes to try and play that shot through midwicket,

But Dane Paterson has the last laugh.

Mousley weathered a real storm yesterday in difficult conditions so he'll be disappointed after all that hard work.

What we have found in this game is that wickets have been falling in clumps. It's a real danger for incoming batters. So just hold onto your hats.
