The game has changed. The mood has changed with those quick three wickets.

It had been cruising along for Worcestershire with that second-wicket partnership.

Harry Brook played in England's T20 World Cup final victory against Pakistan in November 2022

More from Harry Brook's interview with BBC Radio Leeds, speaking about potentially returning to action with England when they defend their T20 World Cup title in June:

"I'm looking forward to it if selected. We join up at the end of next month so I'm looking forward to being back with the lads and hopefully producing some goods for England again.

"We've got one of the strongest, if not the strongest, amount of players we can pick from in the country. There are so many players who are phenomenal at white-ball cricket and people who are nowhere near the squad who could get in the team.

"I think we're in a good place. We haven't spent much time together recently but we get together to play Pakistan at the end of May so we'll have a bit of time together before the World Cup there - if selected."

Yorkshire and England batter Harry Brook, speaking to BBC Radio Leeds about the decision to leave England's winter tour to spend more time with his family:

"When I came home from Abu Dhabi it was a very tough time, and I'm glad I did come home.

"Obviously it was a big decision to make. I haven't played hundreds of games for England, so to just turn down a big Test tour like that was a big decision to make - but she comes before all of that.

"She [Brook's grandmother] would have come out there a couple of years ago, so I had to come back and support her as much as I could. It was a very tough period, but I'm glad I came back and I was with my family and was with her. I managed to take her out for a coffee in that first week when I was back.

"I was still training with a mindset of trying to get back out for the last couple of Tests. Obviously it all disintegrated fairly quickly, so that didn't happen.

"I just tried to support her as best as I could and everyone around us.

"All of the runs I've scored so far this year are all dedicated to her."

  4. wicket

WICKET: Stoneman c Bracey b Singh Dale 0published at 15:08 British Summer Time 28 April 2024

    Gloucs 322 v Middlesex 203 & 9-2

This is a disastrous start for Middlesex. Both openers gone already and they're still 110 behind.

Mark Stoneman had hung around for 19 deliveries without scoring - then he hangs out his bat at the 20th from Ajeet Singh Dale and edges through to James Bracey.

Huge task for stand-in captain Leus du Plooy as he makes his way to the middle to join Max Holden.

  5. wicket

WICKET: Jones b Pretorius 1published at 15:07 British Summer Time 28 April 2024

    Somerset 309-9 dec, Worcestershire 244-4

Somerset claim wickets in successive overs as Migael Pretorius gets one past a rather loose shot from Rob Jones and bowls the Worcestershire right-hander.

Three wickets now for Somerset since the introduction of Shoaib Bashir into the visiting attack. Potentially game changing.

Although new man in Adam Hose will be keener than anyone to stop the rot against his former club.

  6. wicket

WICKET: Kashif Ali lbw b Bashir 17published at 15:03 British Summer Time 28 April 2024

    Somerset 309-9 dec, Worcestershire 243-3

Quick revenge for Shoaib Bashir after being struck for six by Kashif Ali.

In the same over, he pins him leg before wicket.

Kashif's attempt to liven things up a little did not last long. Just 19 balls.

New man in is Rob Jones.

BBC Radio Somerset's Anthony Gibson: "Well bowled Shoaib Bashir who has got his man. That was a quicker delivery. Kashif Ali was again looking for that back cut and the ball probably didn't bounce as much as he was expecting and pinned him lbw."

  7. 6 runs

Six for Kashif Alipublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 28 April 2024

    Somerset 309-9 dec, Worcestershire 243-2

Lively start for Kashif Ali, who has followed two early fours with a big straight six off Shoaib Bashir onto the railway line.

It takes a while to get the ball back.

Thankfully there was no train passing at the time. Nor do we have any news yet on which track it ended up on - the downline to Great Malvern, or the upline to Birmingham Snow Hill?

It is certainly well worth a reminder of a yarn oft told in those parts, especially by former BBC Hereford & Worcester commentator Dave Bradley...

That, back in the day, Chester Road was the scene of the longest six ever struck. A blow that ended up in one of the trucks on a passing goods train, which ended up at the end of the line in Penzance.

Yorkshire and England batter Harry Brook, who scored a century in their ongoing County Championship game against Derbyshire, has been speaking to BBC Radio Leeds.

Brook chose to pull out of England's winter tour of India and a scheduled stint in the Indian Premier League to spend more time with his family, and has recently returned to action with his county following the death of his grandmother.

We will publish some of what he had to say in our live text coverage shortly, and you can listen to the full interview on BBC Sounds.

Day three at Headingley was abandoned without a ball bowled.

  9. Pitch inspection at The Ovalpublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 28 April 2024

    Surrey 359 v Hampshire 151 & 31-2

Another shower at about lunchtime has delayed a restart, but it's dry now and a pitch inspection is planned for 15:45 BST.

Russell Warren and Alex Wharf will give their verdict then on when - and if - Surrey and Hampshire can get out there again.

  10. 'Fernandes will be disappointed'published at 14:59 British Summer Time 28 April 2024

    Gloucs 322 v Middlesex 203 & 5-1

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London

    That's a soft dismissal.

Nathan Fernandes will be disappointed because he's made a very promising start to his Middlesex career and already he's got the tongues wagging about the potential that he clearly possesses.

  11. wicket

WICKET Fernandes c Akhter b Goodman 5published at 14:56 British Summer Time 28 April 2024

    Gloucs 322 v Middlesex 203 & 5-1

An early wicket - just what Dom Goodman and Gloucestershire wanted!

Goodman tempts Nathan Fernandes with a short ball and the young Middlesex left-hander obligingly pulls it straight down the throat of Zaman Akhter at midwicket.

Max Holden emerges with Middlesex still trailing by 114.

  12. 'A fine innings from Jake Libby'published at 14:54 British Summer Time 28 April 2024

    Somerset 309-9 dec, Worcestershire 217-2

That's the end of Jake Libby who was going for the shot that would bring him his 100.

It was an aggressive shot, played across the line, looking to work it away through midwicket. And he missed it.

The ball crashed into middle and off stumps - and Somerset's long wait for a second Worcestershire wicket is over.

A good piece of bowling from Shoaib Bashir but a fine innings from Libby, who still registered his highest score against Somerset.

  13. Pitch inspection at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 28 April 2024

    Durham 358 v Essex 314-3

After the overnight deluge and subsequent mopping-up drive today, the umpires are due to inspect the pitch at 15:30 BST.

Hopefully they'll feel able to give the green light for play to restart later this afternoon, with Essex on 314-3 in reply to Durham's total of 358.

  14. Postpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 28 April 2024

    Gloucs 322 v Middlesex 203 & 1-0

Provided the weather holds, we have 60 overs left today and Middlesex will certainly need to bat for all of those and keep plenty of wickets intact if they're to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

Ajeet Singh Dale has sent down the first over of this second innings, conceding just a single to Nathan Fernandes.

Jake Libby falls just three short of his century.

England's winter spin discovery Shoaib Bashir gets one to straighten and Libby's attempt to reach his hundred with an attacking shot ends in failure.

Libby has already posted one Championship ton this season - his 17th in first-class cricket. But his 18th will have to wait.

Reward for Somerset skipper Lewis Gregory in choosing to bring on the 20-year-old off-spinner.

The new man in is Kashif Ali, for his first bat at Chester Road.

  16. rain stops play

Inspection at Edgbaston at 15:00 BSTpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 28 April 2024

    Notts 400, Warwickshire 71-3

While play is now well under way in Kidderminster, there is a chance of getting cricket 16 miles up the A456 at Edgbaston.

Umpires Paul Pollard and Richard Kettleborough are set to inspect at 15:00 BST.

  17. 'Brookes will take that'published at 14:36 British Summer Time 28 April 2024

    Gloucs 322 v Middlesex 203

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London

Three in an over for Brookes!

Well there's a finale for the Middlesex pace man.

    He'll take that.

  18. wicket

WICKET: Goodman c Helm b Brookes 11published at 14:30 British Summer Time 28 April 2024

    Gloucs 322 v Middlesex 203

OK, make it three wickets in that Henry Brookes over... and all of a sudden, Gloucestershire are all out for 322.

Dom Goodman steers the last ball of the over towards gully and Tom Helm clasps it inches off the ground to bring the home side's first innings to an abrupt close.

That means Gloucestershire have to settle for just two batting bonus points, while Middlesex have a full complement of bowling points safely in the bag as they prepare to bat again, trailing by 119.

  19. Postpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 28 April 2024

    Somerset 309-9 dec, Worcestershire 203-1

Worcestershire are up above 200 now and Jake Libby is into the nineties.

The Worcestershire opener is eight runs away from a second Championship century of the season.

England off-spinner Shoaib Bashir is into the attack for the first time for Somerset.

  20. wicket

WICKET: De Lange c Davies b Brookes 0published at 14:26 British Summer Time 28 April 2024

    Gloucs 321-9 v Middlesex 203

Two in four balls for Henry Brookes!

Marchant de Lange was never likely to hang around - and he takes a big heave at his third delivery, skies it completely and wicketkeeper Jack Davies races away towards point to take the catch.

Gloucestershire are nine down now, leading by 118.
