    Gerwyn Price v Rob Cross

Gerwyn Price has mixed up his walk-on music again. He's opted for Build Me Up Buttercup this week. It gets a decent reaction from the crowd to be fair.

There's a prolonged hug and a little chuckle between Price and Rob Cross too. These two are good mates and often practise together.

The friendship will be brushed to one side for the time being, though.

Time for us to head into the other side of the draw for our third quarter-final as Gerwyn Price faces Rob Cross.

Price, who finished as the runner-up in 2023, reached the final on the opening night but was beaten by Michael Smith. Life has been a little tougher since, with quarter-final exits on night two and four.

His finishing kept him in the game against Michael van Gerwen last week but ultimately he just couldn't deal with the Dutchman's scoring.

For 2018 world champion Cross, his Premier League campaign is still waiting to ignite properly.

He's been consistent, reaching the semi-finals in night one, three and four but is yet to get into a final.

When these two met in the last four on night one, Price won 6-2.

Result: Nathan Aspinall 6-4 Peter Wright

Peter Wright is going to be at least five points away from his nearest rival after tonight, and at least seven away from the play-off spots.

There are still 11 nights left following tonight in Exeter but it is getting close to now or never territory for Snakebite.

VoiceOfTheMysterons: A decent night all round so far for Humphries and Van Gerwen. Although painful, in the grand scheme of things the loss is one that MvG can afford to take, and Humphries starts to get some of his World Champion credibility back on the road.

Result: Nathan Aspinall 6-4 Peter Wright

It felt like Peter Wright had been reaching his level in the past couple of weeks but he was pretty scrappy again tonight truth be told.

He finishes with an average of 91.13, while Nathan Aspinall is up at 96.08.

It is the checkouts that cost Wright again though. He only took out four of 16, while Aspinall found six of 13.

The ninth leg in particular will be replaying in Wright's mind tonight. With just eight needed, he missed seven darts at double, and at this level, you can't afford to do that.

Result: Nathan Aspinall 6-4 Peter Wright

    Both players leave 170.

Nathan Aspinall finds 134 to leave 36 and that really puts Peter Wright, who needs the leg to stay in the game, under pressure.

Wright finds treble 20 twice, to leave bullseye, but can only hit the outer bull. Agony for the Scot.

Aspinall needs two darts but finds double 18 needed for the win. It is another two valuable points for the Stockport man.

Wright is still without a win after five nights and will stay bottom of the table.

  8. Aspinall breaks to move one awaypublished at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February

    Nathan Aspinall 5-4 Peter Wright

Oh! So close from Peter Wright.

With 136 needed for the leg he hits treble 20 twice but goes inside on the double eight.

It leaves eight and it all gets a bit messy. A miss, four and two leaves him with two still needed.

He misses all three darts at double one and that is seven darts missed for the leg.

Nathan Aspinall isn't going to left him have another. He takes out 74 to break again. He's one leg away.

  9. Wright breaks straight backpublished at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February

    Nathan Aspinall 4-4 Peter Wright

Nathan Aspinall claimed the previous three legs in 11, 12 and 13 darts. He seems to have found a real rhythm from nowhere.

A 180, which gets a little first pump, leaves him with 81. He opts to set up for double tops because Peter Wright is back on 200.

Ouch! Aspinall is way too high with all three darts though and Wright comes back to check out 60.

    We're back on throw.

Both players were averaging in the mid 80s just two legs ago but Nathan Aspinall has pushed his up over 100.

He gets three darts at double tops but goes high with them all.

It gives Peter Wright a chance at 99 but he's under with his attempt at double 20.

Aspinall cleans up with his first dart. There's a roar in celebration too.

    Nathan Aspinall 3-3 Peter Wright

Nathan Aspinall is warming to his work.

He starts 140 and then lands a 180. He snatches the darts from the board as he lets out some anger for his early form. Either that or wants to inject some pace into this game.

He ends up needing 86 and goes 18, 18, bull for the leg.

He's pretty in the zone at the moment but there is a little gee up to the crowd.

  12. Aspinall breaks straight backpublished at 19:56 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February

    Nathan Aspinall 2-3 Peter Wright

    Brilliant from Nathan Aspinall.

He leaves 82 after nine darts and nails bullseye and double 16 to break straight back.

He's two from two on doubles at the moment.

  13. Wright takes out 156 to break throwpublished at 19:55 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February

Peter Wright definitely isn't happy with his levels in this match at the moment.

He finds a 180 but follows it with a 45 and he's slapping his face and shaking it afterwards.

He likes this though! He returns with 156 left and takes it out with a superb treble 20, treble 20, double 18.

He has the darts so didn't need to break but that gives him a cushion.

  14. Wright leadspublished at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February

    Nathan Aspinall 1-2 Peter Wright

Peter Wright has opted for the red mohican tonight. I suppose he had to for Exeter.

He is taking some really unusual and alternative routes to try to close out legs here. It is putting him under some unnecessary pressure.

He takes a more conventional route to take out 47 and finds double 20 for the lead.

  15. Aspinall levelspublished at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February

    Nathan Aspinall 1-1 Peter Wright

Peter Wright has a real chance to open a gap on Nathan Aspinall and finds the treble 20 to start. He strays into treble one with the other two darts though and that keeps the door open a little.

Wright returns for 95. He goes for the bull to start but hits 25. A treble 20 follows but he misses double five for the leg.

Aspinall cleans up 60 to take us level.

  16. Wright holds in scrappy first legpublished at 19:47 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February

    Nathan Aspinall 0-1 Peter Wright

There's grimaces, shakes of the head and arms outstretched from Peter Wright as he sprays darts in both the five and one.

A superb 180 leaves him with 29 though, and the pressure is suddenly on Nathan Aspinall to take out 147.

He's unable to and Wright cleans up via nine, 10 and double five. It's a 21-dart leg to start.

Peter will be encouraged by his performance last week against Luke Littler. You feel that tonight he's got to get some points. If he doesn't, he'll be a night win away from his closest competitor.

Our second match of the evening sees the bottom two Nathan Aspinall and Peter Wright face off.

The Asp suffered quarter-final defeats in the opening three weeks before a run to the final in Newcastle last Thursday.

He was beaten 6-4 by Michael van Gerwen but there were encouraging signs for the 2020 Premier League runner-up. He was more consistent throughout the night, rather than starting matches well and dropping off as had been his nemesis prior.

Aspinall's success leaves "Snakebite" as the only player yet to register a victory this season.

The two-time world champion averaged 103.37 against Luke Littler in last week's quarter-final but missed match darts to claim those elusive first points.
