This does not slip...
Nathan:, external Only 10 minutes to go until World Cup glory... Are you ready for this?
Matthew Harris:, external So much pressure but it takes a West German mistake to get the goal again. Oh well, who cares.
Kev Clark:, external Concentrate now England we know the Germans will keep gong to the final whistle no slip ups.
Extraordinary! England fans boo Ray Wilson for passing the ball back to Gordon Banks.
England are seven minutes away from winning the World Cup and Wembley rocks to the beat of 'We want three!'
Forget that - get it in the corner! Waste some time!
All smiles in the Royal Box as the Queen laughs and jokes. Someone in front of her puffs away at a cigarette. No manners.
England hanging on. West Germany will come at them I'm sure but Alf Ramsey's men are 10 minutes away from winning the World Cup...
Wembley is rocking now as Alan Ball drives away down the left before - thwack! He is floored by a disgraceful tackle from Horst Hottges. Goodness me...
Walley Barnes
Former Arsenal defender at Wembley
"A well taken goal by Martin Peters. It's a deserved lead for England, they've been piling on the pressure.
"What I am convinced of is that captain Bobby Moore will really drive the team on for the remaining 12 minutes."
It's in there! Another goal for West Ham, as Martin Peters stabs in from 10 yards after Geoff Hurst's shot was blocked by Horst Hottges.
Can England hang on? There are just over 10 minutes left...
Marc Mulligan:, external Starting to get a bit nervous now. C'mon boys ... this might be best chance of winning a World Cup for a little while.
Chris Latimer:, external Nobby needs to calm down he's going to get booked if he doesn't calm down.
Luke Holden:, external Just not happening for England this. Same old same old
A bit of invention is needed and Roger Hunt turns smartly to find Alan Ball on the overlap. His low cross is blocked though. England knocking on the door!
England pushing forward as Bobby Charlton has a long-range shot charged down, but they need to mind the shop at the back as a swift German counter-attack sees Siegfried Held shoot into the side-netting.
Who wants it?
It's all got edgy at Wembley. Both sides are looking tired, a mistake now could be crucial...
Joe Higton Durrant:, external With all these balls being put in, if Andy Carroll had been around in 1966 he would have been England's most prolific striker ever
Nobby Stiles is a lucky man! He escapes censure again for another crunching challenge on Helmut Haller, that could have been a bad one.
Kenneth Wolstenholme says that Haller has been called "the great actor of the tournament" but I don't think there was much acting there!
Twenty minutes to go...
Matt Viney:, external Apart from being downright disgusting towards any keeper that isn't Gordon Banks the commentators were much better in the 60s.
West Germany looking a threat again now, as Siegfried Held spins out to the left and wins a corner. Jack Charlton and Bobby Moore are standing strong though, winning header after header.
The Wembley pitch is really cutting up. Calf burn all round.
But there's a chance! Jack Charlton goes up the field and heads wide from a free-kick. "When the reds go marching in" rings out around Wembley.
Walley Barnes
Former Arsenal defender at Wembley
"Both sides have played a tremendous amount of football in the last few weeks and that is showing now."
George Garrett:, external Banks good, yes, but surely Lev Yashin of the USSR as 'keeper in team. What a game v Hungary in quarters.
Jack Miller:, external Banks having a stormer so far. I imagine his heroics will inspire high quality, reliable English keepers for generations to come.
Johnny Anderson:, external Banks playing well. Leicester City could lose him to to a really big club.
Geoff Hurst may have scored England's goal but he's not done much since. He hasn't got much of a partnership going with Roger Hunt. Jimmy Greaves will be an anxious spectator.
In the mixer! Great ball in from England left-back Ray Wilson but Martin Peters is beaten in the air. That looks England's best route though, as moments later Peters heads wide.
The crowd just beginning to quieten - some nerves will be kicking in now. The next goal could well be decisive.
