Just brilliant from Diego Maradona. The last time I saw pace like that, I was playing Daley Thompon's Decathlon on the Spectrum - and it ended with a broken joystick!

In fact, if you whack the tape in now and get the bad boy loading up you'll have time for a quick game after the final whistle.

    Jimmy Hill
BBC pundit at the Azteca Stadium

"The midfield hasn't really worked. Bobby Robson's problem is to get the England midfield engine ticking over. Oscar Ruggeri has put Gary Lineker in prison and we need to free our front players. They will worry if we give them a chance to do so."

  14. Postpublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 4 June 2014

The view from the studio is that England need to step up on the front foot after half-time or they could be in trouble.

    Emlyn Hughes
Former England defender on World Cup Grandstand

"Diego Maradona has done well and we all know how good he is. Bobby Robson has a major part to play now at half-time. It hasn't been a great game but he need to go in and tell them 'Ey, we have a chance.'

"We can push Glenn Hoddle further forward and if he can start playing and putting the ball to the front players, we can do well. Argentina are nothing special."

  16. Postpublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 4 June 2014

Barcelona manager Terry Venables on BBC World Cup Grandstand

"We don't know what England have been sent out to do, they are showing the opposition so much respect. Glenn Hoddle is defending with the rest, we need tor risk him and leave him up the pitch so Argentina will worry about him."

Scott Jamison:, external "Nothing like watching a nearly 30-year-old football game and shouting at the screen as if it's happening live."

  19. FAST FORWARDpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 4 June 2014

    Kenny Sansom
    Former England defender

"We'd spent an hour the day before the game working on a free-kick. I would backheel the ball to Glenn Hoddle, he would knock it over the top as Argentina used to run out for offside. I would then be able to cross it in for Gary Lineker, who would have a tap-in.

"It worked like a dream - but Steve Hodge was offside! At half-time there was a lot of swearing at him, and all he could say was 'Sorry lads, I forgot.'

"The World Cup quarter-final and he can't remember a set-piece we worked on for an hour the day before…"
