Here they come. Manchester City's players emerge for the second half. A half they can probably really enjoy...
BBC Sport's Chris Bevan at Etihad Stadium
"The Manchester City fans stood to applaud their side off the pitch at half-time and, although the party hasn't started properly yet, the mood here is far more buoyant than it was before kick-off. Most of the Etihad knows that Liverpool are losing against Newcastle but it still brought cheers when it was read out by the stadium announcer, as did news of how Manchester United are doing at St Mary's. The fans to my left headed to get for their half-time pie singing about Steven Gerrard's slip. We might hear that repeated a few times in the second half too."
Speaking of multiple own goals - Frank Sinclair was in the BBC Sport building yesterday...
Danny Mills
at Etihad Stadium for BBC Radio 5 live
"City look so dominant and I really don't see any way back for West Ham. That's it - get the trophy ready, get some blue and white ribbons tied onto it."
Liverpool have conceded 50+ goals in a 38-game top-flight season for the first time since 1914-15. And Kolo's not even playing.
A top-class centre-half has to be top of Brendan's summer wish list hasn't it?
Rob, Newbury: Five years ago Liverpool came second with 86 points. The following year they were seventh. It will happen again.
Mark Lawrenson
at Anfield for BBC Radio 5 live
"Newcastle's five at the back has caught Liverpool a bit by surprise, and the hosts have huffed and puffed. They are playing as though they know Manchester City are going to win the league."
BBC Sport's David Ornstein at Anfield
"The half-time whistle came at a good time for Liverpool - surely the second period can't get any worse than that? Mumblings of discontent soon make way for resounding applause as the players head down the tunnel - the supporters won't let one poor half ruin their season and you would expect the Reds to throw absolutely everything at Newcastle in the second half."
Django Man:, external What an anticlimax that half was for Liverpool...
Joel George:, external Even if we're going to concede the title, please let it be while beating Newcastle. Shocking.
Charlie Smith:, external Probably the worst half Liverpool have played at Anfield all year. It won't matter but still, always nice to end on a positive note.
Joe, Manchester: If the scores stay the same, this will be the first time since 1996-97 that the top four end the season separated by less than 10 points. Credit to the league and the excitement it's caused this year!
Manchester United fans greet news of Tottenham's 3-0 lead over Aston Villa with cheers. They are clearly quite happy for their team to concentrate on an improved Premier League campaign in 2014-15 rather than the hassle of Thursday night Europa League ties in the back of beyond.
Chief football writer Phil McNulty at Etihad Stadium
"Manchester City are giving a very controlled performance here so far and look very much like a team in control of their own destiny. West Ham have been defending in numbers with a complete lack of ambition but Samir Nasri's goal will surely mean they have to come out more - leaving more room for City's gifted attackers."
Liverpool 0-1 Newcastle United
Manchester City 1-0 West Ham United
Southampton 1-0 Manchester United
This time four weeks ago, Liverpool were 2-0 up against Manchester City and heading to the title.
But like a big-budget US drama during a writers' strike, it's ending horribly at Anfield. They could even finish third at this rate - should Chelsea come from behind to beat Cardiff...
BBC Sport's David Ornstein at Anfield
"News of Manchester City's opening goal has filtered through to the Liverpool fans but it has made little-to-no impression because the Reds will struggle to even get a draw at this rate. The errors are mounting and frustration is turning into anger on the terraces.
"The travelling Newcastle supporters are rubbing salt in the wound with multiple chants relating to the score at Etihad Stadium, and this is fast becoming a miserable day for Brendan Rodgers' side."
