Into the last five minutes of Spain's World Cup challenge. Destroyed by the Dutch and now cauterized by Chile.

"There have just been too many poor performances and the blend of the team hasn't been right. I'd have liked to have seen more fight but maybe they just don't have the legs. This Chile team is as good as it gets with athleticism and work-rate."
Spain are on their way home. There won't be a tickertape reception in Madrid either.
But that's a good effort! Anders Iniesta bends in a long-range strike which Claudio Bravo pushes away.
Spain getting sympathy from Tony Pulis. That's what it has come to for them...
Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis
BBC Radio 5 live
"Spain have a great opportunity but they take that extra pass and extra pass and don't even end up having a shot on goal as Chile get back.
"This will certainly be the talking point of the World Cup so far. Spain, who have been so dominant and so good for so long, well it looks like they will be going out in a bit of a damp squib, that is what disappoints me. As a manager you feel for them. You do not want them to go out this way."
Chile give the ball away cheaply but Spain make a royal hash of it. They had a three-on-three break but the decision making and pace was so slow. They cough it up.
Seconds later Santi Cazorla bends a shot wide from 20 yards. Good save in fact.
Santi Cazorla's first foray sees him dispossessed by a brilliant sliding tackle. Chile's pace and energy has been superb.
Spain are 13 minutes away from elimination. Unlucky for them.
Great attack again from Chile as Alexis Sanchez gets free on the right, he tries to tee up Arturo Vidal, who can't quite control it and a Chile man then hits the deck under a challenge from Sergio Ramos. Great call from referee Mark Geiger as there was no contact.
Spain then send on Santi Cazorla.
Danny Murphy
Former England international, MOTD analyst
"Arturo Vidal isn't playing like someone who has been injured and it's not just his quality. His running stats, his desire to win the ball back for his team, from a so-called star has been wonderful.
"The amount of credit that goes to these players, what they're doing here and playing this way in this humidity is so difficult and it takes a lot of hard work."
That miss from Sergio Busquets feels like a key moment. If that had been buried we would be in for a grandstand finish. As it is it looks like a comfortable enough ending for Chile now.
VB:, external If we thought the Netherlands were good, Chile have destroyed Spain too. It's hard to draw conclusions.
Tim Marler:, external Spain are playing like they've already gone out, not like they've got 30 minutes to salvage their World Cup.
Philip McCosker:, external I feel very sorry for Sergio Busquets. Replays of that miss will haunt him for the rest of his career.

"For all the possession Spain have had Chile still look dangerous on the break. They haven't stopped looking for that third goal and when they get forward they get forward in numbers."
"But they don't half get back in numbers to defend as well."

This is playing into Chile's hands perfectly. Spain are leaving themselves open at the back and another great break from Alexis Sanchez ends with Felipe Gutierrez heading wide on the charge.
This will either end 2-2 or 4-0...
Danny Murphy
Former England international, MOTD analyst
"Spain don't have the energy to win the ball high up they have to keep trying to build slowly and you need something different.
"It looks like they'll just have to keep trying to grind away and make some chances."
What a chance! Should be 3-0 as Mauricio Isla slides in at the back post after a great counter-attack from Chile, he is on the stretch like Gazza in 96 and can't control the effort, firing over!
Richard Dawson:, external I've an idea for you Del Bosque, why not try two strikers?? Maybe try a plan b?
Andrew Stafford:, external Spain desperately lacking pace and look out of ideas. Leaving Navas behind was a definite mistake.
Hamza Bhatti:, external Bringing Torres on when you need a goal is like turning up to a house fire with a water pistol.

Spain are 25 minutes away from elimination.
Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis
BBC Radio 5 live
"Spain look like they are trying to score the perfect goal, but at the moment they need any goal, a scruffy goal. They have been passing the ball quickly but sometimes when they are in a position to shoot they are looking for that extra pass.
"I'm not surprised Vicente Del Bosque has made the change. Diego Costa had a good chance first half and a great one in the second where he allowed the defender to recover by taking too many touches. Spain have to step it up."
Danny Murphy
Former England international, MOTD analyst
"It's not like he was choosing to do the wrong things but Diego Costa's not physically sharp enough for them to come off. One thing with Fernando Torres is he is fit and he's got that pace and power.
"There's not one player Chile carry. They're all on the same page with the same mind-set."
