Aaron Trundley:, external Some of the officiating in this World Cup has been appalling. Notably Brazil v Croatia, Mexico v Cameroon and Italy v Costa Rica. It's unreal.

Peter Whitehead:, external I honestly don't care if England are knocked out now - just as long as I see some good football from Costa Rica.

Football Association Chairman Greg Dyke says there is no "great value" in changing England manager Roy Hodgson.

England's consecutive defeats at the World Cup have posed questions of the 66-year-old and Dyke still believes the national side can meet his aim of winning the 2022 World Cup.

He says: "We were not humiliated or anything like that they were narrow defeats but its for the football people not for me to identify why we didn't win.

"I think we feel any great value in changing Roy. I think he's done a good job. Its an approach over four years and we hope to do better in the Europeans."

Former France and Arsenal striker Thierry Henry

"As a striker, if your team drops you have to run a lot but look at Costa Rica, they don't drop off. They stay compact and they press and get the ball back. For me as a striker, you see that and you relax a bit more because the amount of metres between you all as a team is just a few metres."

"Costa Rica have had more ideas and more ambition, and what we saw was un-Italian defending. Costa Rica will have times in the second half where they need to play within themselves, and not go too gung-ho."

  18. Postpublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 20 June 2014

BBC Sport's Ben Smith in Recife

"Costa Rica are, once again, showing they are not plucky or brave, they are not minnows, they are just a very good football team and are well worth their lead.

"Just before I left for Brazil I interviewed Alessandro Del Piero, the former Italy great, and he said that while he was confident Italy would perform well in their first game against England, he was worried about the second one because history that was the game in which Italy struggled.

"Who knows why that is the case, but Italy have been really, really poor."

  19. FA backing for Hodgsonpublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 20 June 2014

Football Association chairman Greg Dyke has backed England manager Roy Hodgson to lead the national side to the European Championships in 2016.

Hodgson's position has come under scrutiny after his side suffered back-to-back defeats at the World Cup.

"He came to do a four year cycle leading up to the Europeans and we want him to stay and continue with that," says Dyke.

"It's disappointing to lose both games narrowly to both sides but there are some positives, there are a lot of young players who got blooded here who got into tournament football here."
