LaMotta:, external Mikel gotta stay on Pjanic like glue.

Jorge Bronze:, external Pjanic is such a lovely player to watch. Real grace and skill. Like watching Kaka years ago.

At the other end Miralem Pjanic is caught offside as he sprints through the Nigeria defence. Roma midfielder Pjanic is a key cog for Bosnia. When he plays well, they play well.

Nigeria start on the front foot but Ogenyi Onazi spoons a shot horribly wide from 25 yards. A good start by the Super Eagles though.

"The lads in the studio talked about Pjanic but I really like the look of the man next to him in the Bosnia midfield, Muhamed Besic. I think a lot of Premier League managers might be watching him."

Jamie, via text: Twenty years ago the likes of Iran, Ghana and Costa Rica would have been thrashed by the likes of Argentina, Germany and Italy. The world game has come a long way, and as an England fan with little else to cheer for, I'm grateful for it! Brilliant.

They are under way in Cuiaba in a match that is crucial for both sides's hopes of qualifying for the next round. Bosnia know defeat will knock them out of the tournament with a game still to play.

"I'm surprised Bosnia have gone with Dzeko up on his own but think this will suit him. He likes to hold up the ball and bring others into play.

"What I like about Pjanic is that he takes the ball off everybody, if you're a defender he will come for the ball. When I assess midfield players I'm looking at their head movement under pressure - his is Xavi or Paul Scholes-like. He is always looking at the picture of where everyone is on the pitch. He is probably one of the best young midfielders in Europe at the minute."

Bosnia goalkeeper Asmir Begovic says the World Cup debutants know they need to bounce back quickly from their opening defeat by Argentina.

"Playing on the world stage against Argentina in the Maracana was a big challenge for us," admits the Stoke City stopper. "Obviously we made some mistakes that we need to learn from. It's our first time at the World Cup so learning is part of the experience.

"We know that if we lose against Nigeria we are out of tournament. So we know pressure exists but we're looking to be positive going into the match and to get a positive result."

The teams are out and here come the national anthems. Nigeria's anthem is called 'Arise, O'Compatriots', while Bosnia-Hercegovina's is one of a handful in the world without official words. Some Bosnian fans still sing the lyrics from their old one, even though they don't fit the tune.

BBC World Service reporter John Bennett in Brazil:

"Victor Moses was one of Nigeria's star players when they won the Africa Cup of Nations just 18 months ago but head coach Stephen Keshi appears to have lost faith in him.

"The Chelsea forward was replaced early in the second half v Iran and has now been dropped. That would've been unthinkable before the tournament. I've spoken to Moses before about what playing for the Super Eagles means to him and he will be devastated.

"Meanwhile Keshi and Peter Odemwingie have had some very public fall-outs in the past and the coach criticised the Stoke forward only last week but differences have been put aside for a crucial game in Nigeria's World Cup campaign."

Goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama is one of Nigeria's form men. He has been in stunning form for Lille this season, keeping 21 clean sheets, the joint best in Europe's top five leagues.

Keep an eye on his celebrations though. He claimed he would strip to his pants if Nigeria won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations but Instead botched an attempt to lift the referee after the final whistle.

There is footage to be found showing him grab the ref by the waist and press his head into his behind only to abandon the idea when he fails to gain leverage. It's worth a scout around believe me.

Nigeria head coach Stephen Keshi must at times have thought he would never make a World Cup.

In 2006, he led Togo to their first World Cup but was sacked a few months before the tournament.

Four years earlier the same fate befell him as Nigeria assistant, and his turbulent relationship with the Nigerian Football Federation left the "Big Boss's" future in doubt at times in the build-up to Brazil.

He even offered his resignation after their 2013 Africa Nations Cup triumph - citing a lack of support and respect - but he was persuaded to stay and finally gets his moment.

BBC World Service reporter John Bennett in Brazil:

"Middlesbrough fans will know all about Nigeria's young defender Kenneth Omeruo. He made a really good impression during a loan spell at the Riverside stadium last season.

"The highly rated centre-back is on the books at Chelsea and says that when he made mistakes in training Jose Mourinho used to shout at him 'you've just lost Nigeria the World Cup'.

"Omeruo was made his name when he kept Didier Drogba quiet in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final last year. His battle with Edin Dzeko will be fascinating."

Bosnia may be World Cup virgins but no one should expect them to be a pushover with two of Europe's most prolific strikers in their squad.

Edin Dzeko is his country's record goal scorer and hit 10 goals in qualifying - only the Netherlands's Robin van Persie managed more in Europe.

Alongside him during the qualifying campaign was his partner in crime, Stuttgart's Vedad Ibisevic, who almost signed for Blackburn Rovers in 2011. (I'm sure he regrets that move breaking down)

He scored eight goals in qualifying and came off the substitutes bench to open Bosnia's World Cup account in the 2-1 defeat to Argentina. He again starts on the bench.

Nigeria exploded onto the World Cup scene by progressing beyond the group stages in style in both 1994 and 1998. That has proved something of a false dawn.

The Super Eagles haven't won any of their last 10 finals matches, their last win coming against Bulgaria in 1998.

Their last World Cup goal from open play came in 2002 and since then, they have mustered just three goals in six games, all from dead-ball situations.
