Efe Ambrose will be the best known of the Nigeria players to a Scottish crowd. The big defender, who is on the bench tonight, has won two league titles and a Scottish Cup during his two years at Celtic.

Midfielder Reuben Gabriel also spent time in Scotland but was rarely seen during an unhappy spell at Kilmarnock and moved on to Belgian club Waasland-Beveren in January. There might be a few raised eyebrows at Rugby Park if he makes the cut for the World Cup squad.

Andrew Robertson makes his first Scotland start. It's been a meteoric rise for the 20-year-old Dundee United left-back who has enjoyed a wonderful debut season in the top flight after his move from amateurs Queen's Park.

Allan McGregor is preferred to David Marshall in between the sticks and Shaun Maloney is back after a long injury-enforced absence.

Nigeria have omitted several of their established stars, with Shola Ameobi, recently released by Newcastle, leading the attack.
