  3. Suarez 'susceptible to relapsing'published at 09:15 British Summer Time 25 June 2014

    BBC Radio 5 live

Dr Thomas Fawcett describes Luis Suarez as a vulnerable character following accusations the striker bit a player for the third time in his career.

"He's a talented footballer but very vulnerable in intense situations," says Dr Fawcett on BBC Radio 5 live.

"Looking at the past few months... the disappointment of Liverpool's end of season, the injury going into the World Cup, the must-win game yesterday... They were 0-0, it was just before the goal, these things all work up.

"He was vulnerable, very impulsive and, despite working with Liverpool in fairly impressive rehab, he's relapsed and he's open to that."

  4. 'Suarez will bite again'published at 09:10 British Summer Time 25 June 2014

    BBC Radio 5 live

A sports psychologist has said Luis Suarez is likely to bite an opponent again because he is "hardwired" to do so.

Sports psychologist Dr Thomas Fawcett told BBC Radio 5 live: "From a psychologist's perspective it was fairly predictable because of his past history.

"I would suggest he is hardwired in this way. It's not something that's going to come out of his character with a few sessions with a psychologist. If it's happened before it'll happen again, despite all the help he's going to do it again."

Former Liverpool striker Neil Mellor agrees with Graham Taylor that Luis Suarez needs help and said it was "impossible to defend" the striker following claims that he bit Italy's Giorgio Chiellini.

"His disciplinary record was much better last season, we were all hoping it was all behind him, but he needs psychological help," says the ex-Preston and West Ham forward.

"Modern day football is more of a business. If it was about morals there's no doubt Liverpool would ban Luis Suarez, but it's a business. He needs that help and the worry is: what will Fifa do? I wouldn't be surprised if the ban does come into the domestic game, even if that would be unprecedented."

  9. Liverpool must act - Taylorpublished at 08:36 British Summer Time 25 June 2014

Graham Taylor believes Liverpool must take action against their striker Luis Suarez if they believe the Uruguay international did bite Giorgio Chiellini.

"If anyone is going to be really upset with this incident it's Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers," says Taylor on BBC Radio 5 live.

"Brendan has done a first-class job with the club and Suarez. It would be a major concern, it's going to affect Liverpool Football Club simply on the basis that if they decide he has bitten they have to take action against him.

"The FA are going to have to stand still. This is a Fifa situation. Other organisations can't react yet until they see how they react."

  10. Suarez needs help - Taylorpublished at 08:32 British Summer Time 25 June 2014

    BBC Radio 5 live

Former England manager Graham Taylor says Uruguay striker Luis Suarez "definitely needs help" if found guilty of biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini.

"If you look at Suarez's reaction afterwards it's like he knows what he's done. This is a person who definitely needs some help," Taylor tells BBC Radio 5 live.

"Sometimes it's just accepted when you see top class players that everything in their life is alright but they're human beings, and that isn't understood by people watching."
