    German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer's willingness to rush from his goal line and clear balls was a feature of his side's win over Algeria.

    In all, the 28-year-old recovered 12 balls for his side and eased pressure on his defence each time they were turned towards their own goal.

    "Manuel Neuer has the same technical skills as the others, he could play in the midfield, he also has great awareness and that's why we are happy for him to take these risks, and that's why he's so valuable," said Germany boss Joachim Low.

    Ghana's Football Association has offered supporters its "unqualified apologies" for the country's early exit from the World Cup.

    The African side could not build on their quarter-final appearance in 2010 and were eliminated from a group containing Germany, USA and Portugal in Brazil.
