VB:, external If Fifa want to stamp out the Italian style of play, add on a genuine amount of time. 10 minutes. That'll fix it quickly.

Johnny Di Girolamo:, external Mario Balotelli off. Lazy, falls over, loses ball, no control, no threat. Please Cesare Prandelli, send on Lorenzo Insigne.

"An extremely forgettable first half here in Natal and the players are booed off at half-time.

"Italy look like a side that will take a 0-0 draw and Uruguay just haven't found any kind of rhythm thus far. The referee's whistle has prevented any kind of tempo developing on either side and, but for one moment where Suarez and Cavani have linked up, it has all been very ordinary.

"It can only get better. Uruguay, remember, must win to avoid being knocked out of the World Cup."

Group D has provided 11 goals in the first four games but the final round of matches are proving to be a little dull to say the least.

It's also goalless between England and Costa Rica. If the scores stay the same then Costa Rica will go through as group winners and will be joined by Italy.

"It is a masterful display of the dark arts of football by the Italy defence and that isn't a criticism. All the neutrals want Uruguay to score to open the game up."

SafiWardak:, external Uruguay would be among the contenders if they had some quality in midfield.

Alex Ryan:, external Seriously wondering how Italy or Uruguay are going to score without the England defence gifting them a goal.

"It has been a bruising encounter so far. There have been some challenges reminiscent of the Uruguay of old."

No goals but lots and lots of free-kicks. This has to be the ugliest game of the World Cup so far, but it's so far so good for Italy.

Another terrible challenge goes unpunished. Italy's Matteo Darmian escapes a yellow card after smashing into Alvaro Pereira.

The Uruguay midfielder has been on the end of a number of heavy challenges.

His body must be covered in bruises.

"It has been very difficult for Uruguay to break Italy down. The Italians have been very disciplined so far and they're nearly halfway there now."

Half-time is approaching. It's job done as far as Italy are concerned. Uruguay are heading out unless they can find a way of penetrating the Azzurri defence.

Italy are restricting Uruguay to very few scoring chances.

So much so that Martin Caceres attempts a highly ambitious effort from inside his own half on the Italian goal.

But the Juventus man is no Wayne Rooney or David Beckham.

Miracle Roch:, external I see a Mario Balotelli red card from one of Luis Suarez's theatrics.

Shohidur Rahman:, external Astonished with Uruguay's tactics. Do they know they need to win? Just sitting deep and letting Italy play.

"Italy are going to be hard to break down. The best thing that has happened is Andrea Pirlo has dropped deep and is pinging the ball around, he is controlling the game."

"Ciro Immobile scored 22 goals in Seria A last season but this is just his fourth cap for his country. It would be a great time to get off the mark."

    Chance for Italy!

Ciro Immobile is unmarked inside the Uruguay area but his snap shot sails high over the bar.

Mario Balotelli receives a pass in the centre-circle and goes on a powerful run inside the Uruguay half but rushes his shot and a good chance is wasted.

"What is clear is that neither of these teams want to make the first mistake.

"Uruguay look very organised and together. Two red and white balloons blew onto the field in the last few minutes. The referee asked the nearest Uruguay defender to stamp on them but Luis Suarez sent him back. Italy were preparing to take a free-kick and Suarez didn't want his team-mate to be caught out of position. Suarez went over and burst the England coloured balloons himself... insert joke here."

Nice move by Uruguay as Alvaro Pereira gets behind the Italian defence. His low cross falls for Edinson Cavani but the Paris St-Germain striker fails to find the target from close range.
