"Diego Costa was prolific for Atletico Madrid as they won La Liga and reached the Champions League final but he is not just a goalscorer - he can lead the line on his own, create chances and also bully opposing defenders.

"In terms of his physical stature and aggression, Costa suits the Premier League down to the ground and can play the same role for Chelsea that Didier Drogba did during Mourinho's first spell at Chelsea.

"My only worry about him is that he might get distracted by his personal battle with defenders who try to wind him up."

"I think it is the right decision to play Thibaut Courtois. He may as well have stayed at Atletico Madrid for the season rather than warm the bench at Chelsea. But if I was Sean Dyche I would be thinking, let's load the opposition penalty area and see how this guy handles it. You don't get that many crosses in La Liga compared to the Premier League so why not put him under a bit of pressure."

So the team news is out and Diego Costa starts his first competitive game for Chelsea.

Can Burnley's defence frustrate the £32m signing?

"Costa is obviously a fantastic player," says Clarets captain and defender Jason Shackell. "For Chelsea to spend that kind of money on him he's got to be a great player, and I'm sure he'll light up the Premier League at some stage this year."

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho selects Thibaut Courtois in goal, which means Petr Cech, the club's first-choice goalkeeper for the last 10 years, must take a back seat. Summer signings Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas will make their Chelsea debuts, while fellow new recruits Filipe Luís and Didier Drogba are on the substitutes' bench.

Chelsea XI: Courtois, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta, Fabregas, Matic, Schurrle, Oscar, Hazard, Costa.

  11. Mourinho on Courtoispublished at 19:06 British Summer Time 18 August 2014

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho: "Obviously a goalkeeper is not a player you are changing match after match, you must give a bit of stability, but this is about performances.

"Ten years ago I had a very difficult decision to make when you have Carlo Cudicini giving fantastic performances in Chelsea's goal for many years and I made a decision for Petr in 2004-05 because I had in my hands a keeper who I thought could be in Chelsea's goal for many years and years.

"The situation is similar. We have to think about the future of the club and made a decision to give the goal to Courtois. But I feel so comfortable and so safe having these two goalkeepers with us. Petr is a fantastic professional. He only knew my decision this morning."

Barcelona manager Luis Enrique says striker Luis Suarez could play a "few minutes" in a friendly against Mexican champions Club Leon later on Monday.

Suarez's four-month ban for biting an opponent was upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) last week.

But the Uruguay striker, 27, can now train and play in friendly matches, and Enrique said: "He has been working hard when training alone. So I think he can have a few minutes in front of the fans."

Barca's new summer signings are expected to be unveiled to the club's fans before the match against Leon. So not only Suarez, but goalkeepers Claudio Bravo and Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, central defenders Jeremy Mathieu and Thomas Vermaelen and midfielder Ivan Rakitic. Josip Masip has made the step up from Barcelona B and Rafinha, who was on loan at Celta last season.

The match starts at 19:30 BST.
