Crippy Cooke:, external Pellegrini must take his share of the blame for tonight's result. Would Mourinho have kept on Toure/Silva/Dzeko for that long?

Samuel Oj:, external If Mourinho managed Man City, they'd win the Champions League.

Muhammad Owais:, external ‏Referee makes the mistakes and City to pay the price? Clear penalty on Dzeko not given and Doumbia dive for a penalty?

  3. Keep it tightpublished at 19:22 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

Chelsea haven't scored more than once in each of their last four Champions League games.

However, they have scored in each of their last 20 European games at Stamford Bridge, keeping a clean sheet eight times. Goals on the cards tonight?

  4. Thumbs Uppublished at 19:18 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

It's the hottest ticket in Rome since Aelius Maximus Decimus Meridius took on Commodus. A 65,000 sell-out at the Stadio Olimpico, banking the club their biggest gate-receipts ever apparently...

Lisa from London: Success in CL is based on experience and nous not money spent. City lack both. You simply can't throw away a 2-0 lead away from home in this competition and succeed. Far too naive!

Davie from Belfast: It's nothing to do with a mental block it's about game management on the pitch. Yaya Toure attempting a back heel surrounded by three midfielders sums it up.

Never say never in this game, but with the way Chelsea have been playing this is a home banker - surely?

  7. Postpublished at 19:15 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

    Danny Mills
BBC Radio 5 live at Stamford Bridge

"That midfield area is superb - Matic, Fabregas, Willian, Oscar, Hazard - that is the power house of Chelsea at the moment.

"But it also comes down to how they start. They have to start quickly."

  8. Postpublished at 19:15 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

    Alistair Bruce-Ball
BBC Radio 5 live at the Khimki Arena

"There were about 600 people here and it was supposed to be sponsors and club officials.

"But CSKA did have some support here and they were supposed to be being punished for the conduct in their competition over the last few years. Behind closed doors didn't really look like behind closed doors to me."

  9. Postpublished at 19:12 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

Manchester City now probably need to win all of their remaining three games to stand a chance of qualifying - that's CSKA and Bayern Munich at home - and Roma away...

  10. Outsiders?published at 19:11 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is asked whether he agrees that his side are now outsiders to qualify:

"Why? There are nine points to play for."

    Full quotes to come...

  11. Messi on for another record?published at 19:09 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

Barca boss Luis Enrique and Ajax counterpart Frank de Boer are firm friends from their time together as Nou Camp team-mates between 1999 and 2003 - but there will be no old pals' act tonight.

Both men are desperate for three points as they look to move closer to Group F qualification. Barca have taken three points from their opening two matches, beating Apoel Nicosia before losing at Paris St-Germain, while Dutch champions Ajax have drawn each of their outings.

Oh, and there's an outside chance that Lionel Messi could set another record tonight. The Argentine magician would move level with Real Madrid hero Raul as the Champions League's all-time goalscorer if he bags a hat-trick. Unlikely but not impossible...

John McEnerny:, external defo a mental block also they have good players but are missing a real experienced CL star, the one who'll make the difference

Graham Jack Thirkill:, external Doesn't take a genius to win the league with City's team. It does to win the UCL however. City need a genius.

    Pat Murphy
    BBC Radio 5 live

"I understand the approach from Birmingham City to MK Dons for permission to speak to manager Karl Robinson was exploratory and that the issue of compensation quickly deterred Birmingham.

"The three front-runners to succeed the sacked Lee Clark are Mike Phelan, Owen Coyle and the Burton Albion manager and former Blues defender Gary Rowett.

"An appointment is unlikely before the weekend."

  18. Text us on 81111published at 18:58 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

Tom in Manchester: Same old mediocre refereeing in the champs league. Where does UEFA find these chumps? City could have had a penalty on a foul on Dzeko then Milner in the second half, but obviously not given.

Chris in Banbury: So much wasted money on useless players, should hammer teams like CSKA and Roma
