  1. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:15 British Summer Time 15 September 2014

Stunning again from Abel Hernandez. He scored with his right foot, but this time he has a go with his left as he smashes a volley that requires an equally impressive save by Adrian. On tonight's showing, Hernandez and Enner Valencia are two very welcome additions to the Premier League.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:11 British Summer Time 15 September 2014

Tom Huddlestone slides in on Cheikhou Kouyate, taking the West Ham defender's legs and earning himself a yellow card. Stewart Downing clips the subsequent free-kick into the area and Winston Reid flicks the ball on, but Hull keeper Allan McGregor gets to the ball before any West Ham players.

"What a strike that is - no real backlift but Allan McGregor is well beaten. What a finish. When the ball was played into his feet he was immediately on the turn and looking to create something."

    Anything you can do....

What. A. Goal! It is clearly a case of anything you can do I can do better with the big-money signings on show tonight. Enner Valencia outshines Abel Hernandez's opener as he runs square along the edge of the Hull area, opens up a bit of space for himself before curling an absolute stunner from all of 25 yards. Lovely stuff.

Guy Demel skips past a couple of challenges on the right of the Hull area before trying to pick out Enner Valencia. The striker, though, is a little static and Hull are able to head away with relative ease.

"Enner Valencia has been a little ineffective in this game, but he has not had too many opportunities. They maybe need to free him up and get more telling crosses in."

  7. KICK-OFFpublished at 21:01 British Summer Time 15 September 2014

As things stand, West Ham are going on form - none of their last 18 Premier League games have ended level (W8 L10). Plenty of time for them yet, though, as they get the second half under way.

    Hull City

Two shots on target for Hull City, both from the impressive Abel Hernandez. West Ham are seeing plenty of the ball but not doing a lot with it. If Sam Allardyce wanted a bigger goal threat from his side, he is not seeing that so far tonight.

As Steve Bruce said before kick-off: "With Hernandez it is a bit of a gamble because he only trained with us yesterday....."

Big Sam, on the other hand, opted to leave Alex Song on the bench.

The Hull City players walk off to a standing ovation, which is most likely directed at the excellent Abel Hernandez.

The Premier League may have lost one excellent Uruguay international in the shape of Luis Suarez, but has it gained another in Hernandez? Early days, of course, but a great 45 minutes from striker.

Fantastic stuff again from Abel Hernandez as he wraps his foot around a shot from 25 yards that smacks against the crossbar, Nikica Jelavic is quick to react and head home the rebound but he is offside and it won't count. Much more urgency from both sides, just what the game needed.

West Ham are straight on the attack as James Tomkins glances a header wide from a corner. Just three minutes for the Hull defence to hold firm and get into the break ahead.

Head in hands time from Sam Allardyce.
