It will certainly be unfamiliar territory for the Cameroon international.

After nine successive seasons of playing Champions League football with first Arsenal and then Barcelona, it may well be all about getting the sleeves rolled up for a potential scrap for Premier League survival this time.

One of the biggest surprises of the summer transfer window was arguably Big Sam's capture of Alex Song on a season-long loan from Barcelona.

Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal were all linked with a move for the 27-year-old, but it was to the somewhat surprising destination of Upton Park for Song, as he was paraded before the Hammers' game against Southampton on 29 August, with his signing confirmed a few hours earlier.

His Barcelona debut came in front of 85,000 people at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid, tonight he could make his West Ham debut at Hull. How times change.

Hull City v West Ham. It may not be the kind of game to get the pulses racing, but it nevertheless has the potential to be an intriguing contest.

Two sides determined to avoid being in a relegation fight this season. Two sides who invested heavily in the summer.

There could well be a number of new faces on show tonight, but will the raft of changes bring with it better fortunes?

There will have been few managers as pleased to have seen the arrival of the international break as Steve Bruce and Sam Allardyce.

...West Ham, meanwhile, suffered their second successive home defeat in the Premier League to Southampton, with Sam Allardyce accusing his players of being a bit 'too cocky'...

...both managers addressed their concerns by bringing in new faces on transfer deadline day, and both will be keen to see an immediate improvement in performance.

But will it be Bruce or Allardyce who will be smiling by the end of tonight?
