"Steve Bruce paid the big money for Hernandez and threw him in. It's paid off. What a great header, Adrian couldn't get near it."
The Steve Bruce gamble pays off! What a way to make an instant impression as Abel Hernandez, Hull City's deadline day signing, directs a fine header into the bottom corner from Ahmed Elmohamady's cross.
Celebrates with vigour too.
Tim Arstall:, external It's embarrassing when people question the Premier League's quality based on one 0-0 game, every league has them, get some perspective.
James Waller:, external For every Arsenal v Man City, we have to suffer a Hull v West Ham.
Cameron Laws:, external Hull v West Ham an advert for the Premier League? It's an advert for the type of game to avoid watching !

"What a brilliant save by Allan McGregor, that really was special. West Ham have come back into this after Hull started brightly and Stewart Downing has been their standout player so far."
That's better! Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho are showing signs of a good understanding and they combine for the best chance of the game so far. Valencia heads a ball into the six-yard box and Diafra Sakho's chested effort is pushed behind by Hull keeper Allan McGregor. Superb save.
A great run by Diafra Sakho sees the West Ham striker break into the Hull area and he stabs a pass forward for Enner Valencia, but Michael Dawson does well to slide in and deflect the ball out for a corner.
Dave in Bedford via text: So Big Sam wonders if Alex Song is up to the challenge of playing at Hull on a damp Monday night? Where did they get him from, some minnow from a minor European league? Oh no, it was Barcelona.
Dan via text: You can't help but feel Sam is on borrowed time, as a fan myself I can't bear to watch them as they are so boring. I definitely wouldn't pay £70 to go to Upton Park.
Dave in London via text: As a Crystal Palace fan it's tough to look at the strength of this Hull side. It feels like we could be at this level if things hadn't gone so wrong this summer.
Would love to know what is going through Alex Song's mind at the moment. A little over a year ago he was in the Barcelona side as the Spanish giants defeated Rayo Vallecano 4-0. Here he is, on the bench on a chilly Monday night in Hull.
Probably the best chance of the game so far as Stewart Downing plays a one-two with Aaron Creswell just inside the Hull area and quickly lets fly, but his drive is high and wide.
Still waiting for that first shot on target...
Nikica Jelavic almost capitalises on a terrible clearance by Adrian.
The West Ham keeper hits a back pass first time low along the ground and Jelavic sticks out a boot to intercept and then gets up to chase the loose ball, only to injure himself when challenging Mark Noble for possession.
Mark H via text: My mates a dead ringer for the ref, that's the only entertaining bit this far for me.
Warren Elton George:, external Good to see Cheikhou and Zarate have started for West Ham.
Jonathan Kitley:, external I fully expect Diame to have a great game against West Ham. Enjoy it while it lasts Hull fans, he's a one game in seven player.
Aaron Mortimore:, external West ham are starting to find there feet after a dominant opening 10 minutes from Hull, but Diame is playing like a man with a grudge.
Abel Hernandez shows he is adapting quickly to the physicality of the Premier League as he goes in heavy on Winston Reid. The West Ham man is not happy and angry words are exchanged between the two.
That's about the extent of drama we have had. It's that sort of game...
Hull Daily Mail football writer Philip Buckingham:, external 'City Till We Die' rings out around the ground but other sections of the KC make a point of jeering. A significant first?
Still no sign of an opener.
Tom Huddlestone lifts a free-kick into the West Ham area, which is only half cleared, before Mo Diame fires in a cross aimed for Abel Hernandez, but the striker can't get the better of Winston Reid and the ball is out for a goal kick.
A damning verdict....
Andy Bliss:, external I chose #HULWHU over Eastenders. One of life's regrets. #awful #football #bestleagueinEurope?
After having to defend a little bit, Hull are back on the attack as Stephen Quinn and Nikica Jelavic exchange passes on the left before the former crosses into the area, it is far too deep though and drifts out at the far side. The home fans are suitably enthused, though, as they give Quinn some warm applause for his efforts.
It has been that sort of match so far - a warm applause match.
John via text: West Ham's capture of Alex Song on loan for the season has got to be viewed as one of the best pieces of business during the summer transfer window. He's a great player who will add a lot to this West Ham side, he strengthens them exactly where they needed more power and muscle.
PFabs in Telford via text: Why is Song on the bench?
Nice work by Stewart Downing as he charges into the Hull half before feeding a pass to Diafra Sakho, who lashes wide a shot that sums up the game so far - scrappy.
