League-leaders Bristol City put their unbeaten record on the line in a top-of-the-table clash with second-placed MK Dons at Ashton Gate. The Dons have won three of their last four games in the league and head into the match off the back of a 2-0 win over Bradford City in the League Cup. Victory would move the Dons within three points of free-scoring Bristol City, who have netted three goals in each of their last three matches.

Leyton Orient parted company with manager Russell Slade this week as the team with the worst home form in the division look for a change in fortunes. However, with Rochdale the visitors to Brisbane Road today that will be tough. Keith Hill's side head into the match with two clean sheets in back-to-back wins and with 10 of their 16 goals this season coming on the road.

Any slip from the Dons could allow Darren Ferguson's Peterborough side to reclaim second place after two defeats on the road saw them drop down the table. Posh are back at London Road today and host a Fleetwood side who have not won in their last six matches, although Graham Alexander's side fought back from 3-1 down against Bristol City to claim a draw in their last match.

Second-placed Norwich will be looking to get back to winning ways after being dumped out of the League Cup by League Two Shrewsbury in midweek. Neil Adams' side are on a seven-game unbeaten streak in the league and will be expected to beat a Blackpool team languishing in 23rd place after picking up just their second point of the season in a 0-0 draw at Brighton last weekend.

Meanwhile, Fulham caretaker manager Kit Symons enjoyed a 2-1 win over Doncaster in the League Cup in midweek and can bolster his bid to take the job on a permanent basis with a positive result against a Birmingham side that are on a seven-game winless run in all competitions, but Blues did hold Norwich to a 2-2 draw last time out.

New Leeds United manager Darko Milanic will be expected to maintain the club's impressive recent form in his first game in charge as the Whites travel to face a Brentford side that have shipped nine goals in their last three games. Leeds are on an unbeaten four-game run and have scored six goals in their last two games.

League leaders Nottingham Forest, who were held to a 0-0 draw at Millwall last weekend and lost 3-1 at Tottenham in the League Cup in midweek, host a Brighton team that registered their first win of the month in the cup in midweek - a 3-0 victory at Burton Albion - but have picked up just two points from a possible 12 in recent fixtures. Stuart Pearce's side will be disappointed not to be top at the end of the day.

Everton goalscorer Phil Jagielka, speaking to BT Sport: "Hopefully next time we come to Anfield we can go one better but the point is not the end of the world.

"It has been a frustrating season so far, to go 1-0 down and keep knocking at the door showed tremendous character. We need to keep showing character.

"The lads need to keep playing the same way, keep having the courage to do the right things and hopefully this will be a kick-start to the season for us."

On such raspers, seasons can turn. Everton will hope so anyway.

There's still a solitary Liverpool fan inside Anfield with his hands on their heads. How long does the steward give it before he ushers the crestfallen fella to the exit?

"I enjoyed the game, but it was not as exciting as supporters would have wanted and expected, and in truth the build-up play was better than the final product, from both sides. But Everton will be delighted with the point. Liverpool were really the better team, and Roberto Martinez will be the far happier manager."

"You won't see a better strike than that! Phil Jagielka hits a wonderful strike with his laces, on the half-volley, and it flies in the top corner. Simon Mignolet had no chance. Whether Everton deserved it or not, it was a stunning goal."

A Rolls-Royce of a goal from the man they call Jags. Aiden McGeady's cross is headed straight to Phil Jagielka 30 yards out and the defender laces a rasping effort into the top corner. But for the net, that shot would still be travelling.

    A Toffees hero, alright.
