MBHAN: Scott Brown's influence on this Celtic team can't be underestimated offers so much bite, drive & leadership #bbcsportscot
Next up for us is tomorrow's Scottish Premiership game between Partick Thistle and St Mirren at Firhill.
Next up for Celtic are Dinamo Zagreb, who signalled their worth and intent by thrashing Romanians Astra 5-1 in the other group game in Croatia.
Celtic's midfield at times were left aimlessly chasing the ball like a bunch of schoolboys by their classy opponents tonight.
But, thanks to a brilliant goalkeeping display together with a home defence as fragile as their own, the Scottish champions will leave Austria with a point that should give them heart for the Group D campaign to come.
"Celtic will be frustrated not to have got a point, but they have no right to be frustrated as they would not have got that point if it had not been for the brilliance of Craig Gordon. Everybody is delighted for him to come back from injury the way he did - a great story - and to get him for nothing after selling Fraser Forster for £10m is the best bit of business they have done for some time."
"Celtic will be satisfied with a point against a team who are the top seeds, but Salzburg are not world beaters. They are a decent team but nothing more and that's the disappointing part of it."
"You would have taken a point away from home against the top seeds in the group - a team with a good reputation."
"I've never seen so many bad headers in one match - by both sides."
Stefan Johansen limps off and is replaced in the Celtic midfield by Beram Kayal.
Jonathan Soriano failed to break into a star-studded Barcelona side. However, the Spanish striker has an impressive strike rate with Salzburg and has now scored 78 times in 82 appearances.
Celtic are not sitting back and satisfied to take a point. Will the Scottish champions pay for their adventurous spirit in the closing minutes as this Salzburg side are well capable of a third goal given the visiting defence's fragility?
Mirren White: What has happened to the defence recently? Leaving holes all over the place and seem afraid to tackle. #Celtic #bbcsportscot
Craig Gordon has made Celtic fans forget the loss of Fraser Forster to Southampton in the summer with some superb performances. However, he might have been slightly slow going for Jonathan Soriano's equaliser, or I am expecting too much of man who has not long returned from two years out of the game through injury?
Former Barcelona striker Jonathan Soriano is given another chance to line-up a free-kick 22 yards from goal and this time makes Celtic pay as his curling effort beats Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon.
Anthony Stokes has a great chance to extend Celtic's lead, but Christian Schwegler makes an excellent block in front of goal to deny the substitute.
Joanathan Soriano's free-kick takes a deflection off the Celtic defensive wall and into the arms of goalkeeper Craig Gordon.
