Salzburg lost to Malmo of Sweden and Celtic to Maribor having been given a reprieve despite defeat in the previous round by Legia Warsaw. The Poles were thrown out for fielding an ineligible player.

Defenders Isaac Vorsah, Asger Sorensen and Fränky Schiemer, midfielder Valon Berisha and striker Rodnei are still missing for Salzburg through injury.
