Ok gentlefolk, that concludes a riveting evening of European football, I'm sure you'll agree. Earlier on, Juventus 3-2 Roma was a real humdinger with spectacular goals, dodgy penalties and some good old-fashioned fisty-cuffs. In the battle between France's big spenders, Monaco popped in a late goal to deny PSG, and over in the Spanish capital it was normal service as Real Madrid thrashed Athletic Bilbao 5-0 to take their tally to 20 in their last four league games. We'll catch you for more of the same after the international break. Au revoir!

    Italian Serie A

Tonight's action in Italy's Serie A is all over too.

Fiorentina cruise to 3-0 home win against Inter Milan after Nenad Tomovic adds to first-half goals from Khouma Babacar and Juan Cuadrado.

Napoli have suffered a difficult start to the Serie A campaign but managed to gain some respite for boss Rafa Benitez with a comeback win against Torino. The visitors led through ex-Napoli forward Fabio Quagliarella before Lorenzo Insigne and Jose Maria Callejon turned the game around in the second half.

A smattering of boos can be heard from the PSG fans who are frustrated at their team's sixth (yes, SIXTH) draw of the Ligue 1 season.

The point is enough to move Laurent Blanc's side up to third, but the defending champions are already seven points behind a Marseille side revitalised under Argentine tactician Marcelo Bielsa.

Real Madrid's fourth league victory on the bounce takes them up to fourth in the table, above their city rivals Atletico and four points behind leaders Barcelona.

Here's a round-up of Ronaldo's frankly ludicrous numbers. The Portuguese number seven has now scored 26 hat-tricks for Real Madrid and three in the last 15 days. He has 13 goals in six league games and 17 in all competitions.

There's almost time for Monaco to nick a shock winner, but Salvatore Sirigu gratefully clutches a low shot to his chest. Moments later the final whistle goes - vital point for the visitors!

  8. GOALpublished at 21:50 British Summer Time 5 October 2014

On a day packed full of European drama, it is rather fitting that Monaco silence the Parc Des Princes with a late, late equaliser. Teenage substitute Anthony Martial scuffs past PSG stopper Salvatore Sirigu from close range. Doesn't matter how they go in....

The final whistle arrives to put the Basques out of their misery. It's a walk in the park for Real. Three for Ronaldo, two for Benzema and plenty of missed chances besides.

It's the hat-trick, but this one is a bit lucky. Marcelo's shot seems to deflect off Ronaldo's arm before nestling in the corner of the Athletic Bilbao net. They all count, and Ronaldo now has 17 goals this season and three hat-tricks in his last four league games.

    French Ligue 1

Monaco have held their own for long periods of this Ligue 1 match but they are set to return to the principality with nothing - unless they can dig out a late equaliser. Just under 10 minutes to do it...

James Rodriguez goes down in the box. Will this be Ronaldo's chance from the spot? No, it's a blatant dive, and to his credit James doesn't even appeal. The ball makes its way to Bale whose shot is straight at Iraizoz.

This really is like a training game for Real. Watching Bilbao it seems extraordinary that this team finished fourth last season. Iraizoz saves one-handed to deny Bale then Ronaldo drives wide from the edge of the area.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:35 British Summer Time 5 October 2014

No hat-trick for Karim Benzema today as he is replaced by Isco, who scored twice in this fixture last season.

Only Iraizoz is preventing this from becoming a cricket score, with Ronaldo in the role of WG Grace. Carvajal's cross picks out Ronaldo's head but his effort is brilliantly palmed aside by the 33-year-old stopper.

  16. Postpublished at 21:30 British Summer Time 5 October 2014

Shall we start a countdown to Cristiano's hat-trick? Two more chances for the golden boy, the latest of which is a powerful low drive that Iraizoz does well to keep out.

Monaco's resistance is broken by the French champions. Despite being urged to shoot by the home fans, Jean-Christophe Bahebeck keeps his composure to slide a precise pass across the Monaco goal for an unmarked Lucas Moura to gleefully smash in the PSG opener.

Like a knife through butter. Luka Modric easily penetrates the Bilbao defence to pick out Ronaldo's run. The only surprise is that the Portuguese superstar opts to pass rather than shoot, squaring the ball for Benzema to tap home.

Bale - 4-0! No, offside. Real size up their target for a while with some probing passing then go for the jugular as Marcelo whips a ball to the far post where Bale heads in. The linesman's flag denies the Welshman his sixth of the season.
