Saido Berahino's form has not gone unnoticed by the transfer tittle-tattle merchants.

The Daily Mail, external have put Liverpool's misfiring forward line on one side of the scales, Berahino's goal spurt on the other side and come up with a £25m January bid to take the England Under-21 international to Anfield.

    Realistic? Advisable? Or chip wrapper?

Your thoughts on that possible move are welcome.

  2. Berahino for England - Irvinepublished at 12:17 Greenwich Mean Time 26 October 2014

West Brom head coach Alan Irvine believes that striker Saido Berahino has the mental strength to become an England centre-forward in time.

Berahino is the highest English scorer in the Premier League, taking his total for the season to seven with a penalty in yesterday's 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.

Asked if the striker could do a job for England boss Roy Hodgson, Irvine told BBC Radio 5 live's Sportsweek: "Saido's playing really well at this moment. Is he the right player for Roy at the moment at senior level? I don't really know. It depends on how Roy wants to play and who he feels is best equipped to do that.

"Saido's certainly got the composure and is able handle pressure. He showed that with the penalty yesterday and has done so in previous games this season. He's calm and composed. Will he be able to handle that mentally in time? Yes, I do."

Are you a Man City/Man Utd/Arsenal fan ready to admit your team is playing for second?

Andrew, Norwich: As an Arsenal fan it's safe to say our season is already in damage limitation mode. Positive is that we're playing badly and still picking up results but injury after injury, season after season, is becoming a familiar theme.

Dave: Playing for second? As an Arsenal fan the way we're playing I'm worried we might not even make fourth!

Burnley, the only club in the Premier League or Football League without a win this season, going for all three points against Everton at Turf Moor.

All eyes on Tottenham's Erik Lamela to see if he goes John Virgo again with a trick-shot stunner against Newcastle.

  9. Balotelli should have been benched - Aldridgepublished at 11:56 Greenwich Mean Time 26 October 2014

Staying on the Hull theme, former Liverpool striker John Aldridge thinks Mario Balotelli should have been dropped to the bench for Saturday's Premier League home game against Hull.

Balotelli missed a good late chance in the 0-0 draw, and remains without a Premier League goal since his £16m move from AC Milan in August.

Aldridge told BBC Radio 5 live's Sportsweek programme: "I'd have started with Rickie Lambert yesterday. It's just one of those things, as a striker, you go through these phases where you can't score. The longer it goes on, the worse it gets.

"Sometimes when it gets to that stage, you need to be taken out of the fray, take a back seat and build it up again."

Newcastle fans might not have to go all the way down to north London in the future to watch their side against Spurs. Although, for those who use the east coast train line, this move won't do them any favours.

The Mail on Sunday, external reports Tottenham face at least two years playing in Milton Keynes as they build their new stadium across the road from White Hart Lane.

It'll mean a 100-mile round trip for many Spurs fans and could last for more than two seasons.

The prospect has been forced on the club as the design of the new stadium won't allow for it to be built in phases and a High Court challenge has been made over the build.
