BBC World Service's Steve Crossman in Istanbul: "Such is the ferocity of this fixture that for several seasons now no away fans have been permitted. The rivalry is so deep that it has bled into all sport in the city. Not so long ago a wheelchair basketball match between the two sides was abandoned due to a mass brawl.

"Nothing grabs the attention like Galatasaray v Fenerbahce though. Former Real Madrid and Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder has been telling me he feels more pressurised in this game than he did in the Milan derby or El Clasico.

"They call it hell you know and it really is something like that," the Galatasaray player says. "You can feel the tension on the pitch, it's something amazing."
