Now then, is there a twist in this title race? Jill Scott has put the Manchester City cat amongst the Chelsea pigeons, rifling in a bouncing effort from 25 yards. At the near post, Chelsea sub goalkeeper Clare Farrow probably should have done better, the ball bouncing below her dive. City lead and Liverpool have a sniff.

It's slipping away from Birmingham, both in terms of the WSL title and the second Champions League spot. Fiona O'Sullivan has put Notts County 2-0 up in Solihull. Right now, it looks to be between Chelsea and Liverpool for the silverware.

On the touchline, Chelsea boss Emma Hayes is asking the media for help with scores from the other fixtures. Birmingham remain 1-0 down to Notts County, while Liverpool and Bristol Academy are goalless. As it stands, Chelsea are champions.

Action at both ends. After City's Natasha Flint went the wrong side of the post with a lob over the on-rushing Clare Farrow, the home side were saved by a goal-line clearance from Abbie McManus. From Eniola Aluko's deep cross, a header back across goal from Rachel Williams was stopped on the whitewash.

"They took their time over Hourihan. Quite rightly. She came a long way and fell heavily. But she won't have wanted to go off - this is such a big game. Straight into the ambulance is a bit of a worry."

  6. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 12 October 2014

What a moment for Clare Farrow, who comes on to make her Chelsea debut in the most important match of the season. Farrow has 39 on her back, but no name. Marie Hourihan has gone straight to the ambulance at the side of the pitch. If this had happened at the other end, City do not have a goalkeeper on the bench.

Eeesssshhh. That's a serious collision between Manchester City's Georgia Brougham and Chelsea keeper Marie Hourihan. Hourihan has stayed down and is struggling with her right shoulder. The ball came in from a free-kick, Hourihan took off to catch it, but tangled with Brougham on the way down. The physio signals that she can't continue.

Already there's good news for Chelsea. Aileen Whelan has taken advantage of some sloppy marking at a corner to put Notts County in front against Birmingham. As it stands, a draw will be enough for the Londoners to be crowned champions.

Back-to-back corners for Chelsea, for whom manager Emma Hayes prowls the touchline, dressed in black. Hayes is the only female boss in the WSL. Nothing comes from the corners, but error-strewn City are still struggling to press.

"Manchester City have got new players in their side so Chelsea will want to get at them early on. If they can get crosses in to Rachel Williams then they will have a good chance of scoring."

Chelsea press in the early stages, City struggling to get the ball of their own half. The home side, by the way, have 18-year-old Alex Brooks in goal for her first WSL game. Just a small one to begin...

  12. KICK-OFFpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 12 October 2014

In Widnes, Liverpool are away against Bristol Academy. In Manchester, City remain in their pre-match huddle. Birmingham are doing the same in the Midlands. Finally, all three of our big games are off.

We're actually a little tardy in Manchester. Will the other three games have players lining-up and shaking hands, our two teams are only just strolling across the athletics track. Warm applause as the players make their way between two white and sky blue flags. The Chemical Brothers pump out over the speakers. It's sunny, a warm end to a summer season.

Almost time for kick-off in gloriously sunny Manchester. Around the country, teams are emerging from the tunnels in this three-way scrap for the Super League title. In the shadow of the Etihad Stadium, Chelsea are about to take the field, 90 minutes from glory.

Changing gear for a moment, we're being told that former Celtic boss Neil Lennon is close to being appointed the new manager of Bolton Wanderers.

The Championship club parted company with Dougie Freedman earlier this month.

So, what's the situation? I'll keep this as brief as possible.

Chelsea will be champions if they beat Manchester City. No ifs, no buts. They will also lift the trophy if Birmingham and Liverpool fail to win, while a Chelsea draw could be enough given that their goal difference is two better than Birmingham's.

Birmingham have to beat Notts County and hope Chelsea slip up, with a Chelsea loss or draw enough to let City in, depending on goal difference.

Liverpool, three points behind the leaders, require Chelsea to lose and Birmingham not to win if they are to have any chance of defending their title.
