Fulham might only be three victories away from a trip across the capital to Wembley, but caretaker manager Kit Symons says the club's league status takes precedence over any thoughts of a cup run.

The Cottagers have only just hauled themselves out of the Championship relegation zone, and Symons said:, external "Without a doubt working our way up the league has to be a priority and always had to be at the forefront of my thinking when I took over.

"Winning breeds confidence and I want to win every game. Naturally, at the back of mind, I also know this is a result-based business so the more games I win, the better for my own situation."

Within the last hour, Swansea City have confirmed they are in early-stage discussions with potential investors that could see them taking what the club call a 'small' equity stake in the Premier League outfit.

A club statement, issued to Walesonline,, external said: "It must be stressed that this is only a possibility and the club has not received any formal offers to date as discussions are only at an early stage.

"The board of directors believes they have proved over the years that the decisions they make are in the club's and fans' best interests.

"This philosophy is a priority and any future investment will only be accepted if it is right for the club and fans."

Shrewsbury Town boss Micky Mellon tells BBC Radio 5 live: "We've worked hard to get to this stage and we're buzzing to play. We will try to keep our standards high against Chelsea. It will be a real test against every aspect of our game, but it's a challenge we will enjoy. We've been playing well for a lot of the season and I've told them to go out and enjoy the occasion. "

As expected, Brendan Rodgers makes wholesale changes - nine, in fact - to the Liverpool team which started Saturday's 0-0 home draw against Premier League rivals Hull City.

Only two men survive - full-back Javi Manquillo and centre-back Dejan Lovren. They are joined in a back four by Kolo Toure and Glen Johnson, just in front of keeper Brad Jones, who makes his first Liverpool start since 16 February.

England striker Rickie Lambert starts for just the third time and is aiming to score his first goal for his hometown club. International team-mate Jordan Henderson skippers the side in Steven Gerrard's absence, while there is also no place in the matchday squad for Raheem Sterling.

"Micky Mellon has got real focus out of players. You can see an example of that with the teams they have put out. That they are playing one of the great teams in the world will focus them even more. There are a lot of young players in the Shrewsbury team who will be relishing the chance to test themselves against higher opposition"

Jose Mourinho might have annoyed Paul Lambert - not wise - and Roy Keane - definitely not wise - by shaking hands with the Aston Villa pair before their recent encounter had even finished, but he won't have any such problems with his opposite number tonight.

"He can come and shake my hand as many times as he likes," said Shrewsbury boss Micky Mellon. "He's looking to come here and beat us, and beat us well, then go off on the way to his next challenge. At the end of the day, he's a fantastic manager."

Wilfried Bony is hot stuff at the moment and, if summer transfer rumours were to be believed, he might have been lining up for Liverpool tonight. Instead, Brendan Rodgers went for Mario Balotelli - a decision which former Swansea striker Ian Walsh says was a "big mistake."

"It's a big mistake. Bony is on the upward trend and for me there would only be one choice," said Walsh. "Balotelli has been there, seen it, done it, but is he on the downward path now in terms of enthusiasm for the game?

"Bony has adjusted to this level and still has the desire to score goals."

If you see somebody giving Ashley Williams a clip at half-time tonight, chances are he's changed his mind and decided to swap shirts with Mario Balotelli.

Ahead of the game, Williams said: "If you see me swap shirts at half-time give me a slap."

That might be a bit extreme, but I found the skipper's next comments quite interesting: "Everyone's got an opinion on him, [but] I think he's a good player [and he] seems like a nice guy whenever I come up against him."
