  1. CLOSE!published at 15:23 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2014

Aside from Diego Costa, West Ham striker Diafra Sakho has been the hottest striker in the Premier League of late, and the player of the month for October goes close again.

Villa keeper Brad Guzan decides to come for a cross, doesn't get there, and Sakho loops a header wide.

Hull have had more of the possession at Turf Moor, but Burnley look more threatening - Danny Ings being denied at close range by Steve Harper before a goalmouth scramble ensues. Out for a corner, which comes to nothing.

at Old Trafford for 5 live sports extra

"I wonder if there have been any instructions for Manchester United to shoot on sight? We have had four from distance already. Each time I felt the attacker could have taken it on a little bit further. But maybe United have been working at shots from distance in training all week."

The pass count is 174-34 to Manchester United so far. Plenty of passing on the agenda - but not much in the way of excitement.

Hridaya Nahata:, external Van Persie has looked lively today. Finding the pocket of space every time.

Abz Mulla:, external Brave move from Warnock to start two strikers at Old Trafford. Their pace will cause Blind problems.

Uchenna Nelson:, external Di Maria is really not functioning properly with this diamond formation. I think he thrives more in a 4-3-3.

Daley Blind, playing in defence this afternoon, starts a move which ends with Michael Carrick slamming a deflected shot wide. The versatile Blind is proving a good addition to the United squad.

Moments later Marouane Chamakh is in the right place to clear Robin van Persie's low ball in.

Two shocks already on the cards in the FA Cup as Conference South Hemel Hempstead take the lead against League Two Bury, 61 places above them in the football pyramid, through James Potton.

And Conference leaders Barnet have taken the early initiative against former FA Cup semi-finalists Wycombe Wanderers thanks to John Akinde's second minute effort.

A West Ham goal is in the offing! Lovely stuff again, this time it's Enner Valencia from wide on the left, he leads the Villa defence a merry dance and cuts the ball back, it somehow bobbles right across the goalmouth and James Collins slams the loose ball into the chest of a Villa defender.

To say both of these teams are managed by strapping centre-halves from the nineties, they both play some excellent stuff. Nice pretty passing patterns but still no real chances.

  10. CLOSE!published at 15:14 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2014

It's been all Hammers since kick-off but Villa show what they are made of on the break when Gabby Agbonlahor slips a tackle, opens his legs and leaves West Ham in trouble. He backs James Collins into the penalty area to open up the space but hooks his shot over the top.

Seconds later, at the other end, Collins goes close with a towering header.

A good start by Leeds United as Mirco Antenucci and Stephen Warnock test Joe Lewis in the Blackpool goal but the keeper can offer no resistance as Liam Cooper scores his first goal for the Elland Road club.

It's a crisp volley from the edge of the area.

Mark Hudson has an effort cleared off the line for Huddersfield at Fulham, that one is goalless and fans at Birmingham are just pleased to see their game with Cardiff under way - that one survived a pitch inspection.

Lovely build-up play from Burnley. Then George Boyd gets the ball and a tame effort is easily dealt with by Steve Harper.

  13. Postpublished at 15:10 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2014

Manchester United have had 83% of possession in the opening 10 minutes. That is huge! "Can we have our ball back mister?"

Louis Porter:, external Daley Blind is a good player defensively but he is not a centre-back. I expect Palace to get past him numerous times as the game goes on.

Nic Weatherill:, external When was the last time Antonio Valencia made a successful cross?

James Ellis:, external Surprised at how disappointed Liverpool fans are about their match. Like with Madrid, we played well against a good defence.

  15. Postpublished at 15:09 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2014

The Foxes will be pleased with their defensive organisation early on - Wes Morgan gobbling up anything which comes his way as Southampton have plenty of the ball without showing a real touch of class. Yet.

  16. Postpublished at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2014

West Ham continue to press, Enner Valencia slamming a free-kick into the wall as Villa struggle to break the shackles.

  17. Postpublished at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2014

Little happening at Turf Moor, with the most exciting aspect being the ball being kicked onto the stadium roof and taking an age to trickle down and land back on the pitch.

  18. Text us on 81111published at 15:07 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2014

Andrew: Adnan Januzaj owes Manchester United a big performance today. He's had a lot of game time lately and has contributed very little indeed.

  19. Manager reaction - "We are the autumn champions"published at 15:07 Greenwich Mean Time 8 November 2014

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho: "In the second half showed something new, which is to be 1-1 at Anfield and don't accept the result as a good result and play to win. I think we were very impressive, we want to play, we want to win we want the ball. The personality of the team is amazing. The best team by far was the blue team and the team that deserved to win was Chelsea.

"Unbeaten through the season is the impossible job, I think we will lose. I think we have a very good chance to win the title but I think we, Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Southampton are all still in the race. All we can say is that we are the champions of the autumn."
