Former Arsenal and Wales striker John Hartson
BBC Radio 5 live sports extra at the Liberty Stadium

"Arsenal have only come to life in the last 10 minutes of the game, and they are fortunate to still be in it. Swansea had great chances to score. The game livened up no end towards the end of the first half, as did Arsenal, but they need to be much better in the second half.

"I believe we will see both Theo Walcott and certainly Jack Wilshere come on later in the game, because the visitors have been crying out for somebody who can unlock the defence and make that final, clinical pass."

  2. Postpublished at 16:52 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

Santi Cazorla completed all 22 of his passes in the first half, but he does seem to slow the game down at times. Theo Walcott would be a totally different proposition for the Swans backline.

Blue Analyst:, external Swansea have some sort of curse with referee's decisions at the moment.

Andrew Neill:, external Not a great game from Santi Cazorla so far. I'd expect to see Theo Walcott replace him at some point in the second half.

Rasanga:, external No point Arsenal getting corners, conversion rate to goals is so poor.

Michael Phillips:, external Not the most exciting half of football you'll ever see. Arsenal really need to wake up!

  5. CLOSE!published at 16:49 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

He should score - Per Mertesacker loses Kyle Bartley to reach a corner, he's seven yards out but gets his angles wrong, closes his eyes and heads wide.

BBC Radio 5 live sports extra at the Liberty Stadium

"Absolutely brilliant play from Arsenal [see 16:43], they played six or seven one-twos, neat and sharp football into Danny Welbeck's path, who forces a good save. And then Aaron Ramsey catches a volley so sweetly, which goes inches wide of Lukas Fabianski's post. Exactly what you want from Arsenal. But they have only come up with it in what, the 43rd minute of this game?

"In the last four or five minutes Arsenal have just come alive. Until now Swansea had definitely had the lion's share of the chances, Marvin Emnes and Jefferson Montero the best of them."

  7. CLOSE!published at 16:45 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

One of you! A cross is hooked out by Ashley Williams, Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey both swing for the shot and Ramsey connects, arcing a dipping volley just beyond the far corner.

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:44 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

Lovely stuff, it really is. That's twice now that the Gunners have really put it all together. They zip from left to right, perfect passing and first-time movement, you can't live with them. Danny Welbeck plays a superb one-two to hoodwink the last man and thrash in a first-time shot, the angle is tight and ex-Gunner Lukasz Fabianski makes himself big to block.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16:41 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

Arsenal do get out this time, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has grass in front of him. He knocks it past Neil Taylor and clicks through the gears, only coming to a halt when Ki Sung-yueng trips him. That's a yellow card.

  10. Postpublished at 16:40 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

Former Arsenal and Wales striker John Hartson
BBC Radio 5 live sports extra at the Liberty Stadium

"Wilfried Bony is Swansea's focal point. You play the ball into him and he will make sure that it sticks - that is what he does. Marvin Emnes just had the best chance of the game. Bony plays the perfect pass out wide to him and Emnes should have scored. He hit it straight into Wojciech Szczesny's arms, when he should be finding a corner.

"Arsenal have been under constant pressure for past five minutes or so. They have no outlet showing as a target - there's nobody running behind the Swansea defence. The Arsenal players need to make themselves available because they are just giving the ball away cheaply."

CharlesChip:, external Santi Cazorla has been very poor over the past few games. Surprised he has started today.

Simon Hancock:, external If poor refereeing decisions really do even themselves out, Swansea are due to get five penalties in the second half.

Rasanga:, external Arsenal caught on counter with full-backs too far up pitch. In other news grass is green.

  12. Postpublished at 16:39 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

Swansea now looking the better side. Jefferson Montero is a very exciting player to watch, skinning Calum Chambers with a brilliant first-time backheel into space. Chambers then gets an accidental kick to the face for his troubles. Pass the smelling salts.

  13. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:35 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

Swansea haven't been able to get Wilfried Bony in the game, but the first time they find their targetman, he fashions a chance. Bony gets it into his feet, is able to hold off his marker and lay the ball off to Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Sigurdsson hits the instant snapshot but unusually for him scuffs his effort poorly.

Bony then lets Marvin Emnes in on his right, another early shot and another easy save for Wojciech Szczesny.

  14. Postpublished at 16:31 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

Out of nowhere, Arsenal turn it on. Lovely one-touch passing between Aaron Ramsey, Santi Cazorla and Danny Welbeck opens up space for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the right. His shot is charged down and he then has a penalty shout waved away as Jefferson Montero challenges him.

  15. Postpublished at 16:30 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

Former Arsenal and Wales striker John Hartson
BBC Radio 5 live sports extra at the Liberty Stadium

"The times Alexis Sanchez has got on the ball he has given it away. Arsenal have broken that initial line of Swansea's defence a few times but once they've got into the final third they have given the ball away sloppily. Their passing has to be spot on. For the players they have, they have looked ordinary and wasteful."

  16. Postpublished at 16:30 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

Swansea are the only Premier League team yet to concede in the opening 30 minutes this season. You have to get up very early in the morning to catch them out.

It is a record they have extended for another game now, too.

Osama:, external That challenge from behind by Calum Chambers is a penalty all season long!

Mike:, external Why are Arsenal fans complaining? A win today and you'll be one point behind Man City without playing that well.

Jason Trenouth:, external Arsenal are going to need to buy more full-backs in January if they are expected to cover for all the other positions.

  18. GARETH BARRY UPDATEpublished at 16:26 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

    Everton

Everton manager Roberto Martinez: "Happy to confirm that it's not the broken leg we were worried about with Gareth Barry. There is ankle ligament damage we must assess."

  19. Postpublished at 16:24 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

The challenge from Calum Chambers was not forceful enough to knock Wilfried Bony to the ground - but he was nowhere near the ball, it was a shove in the back alright. Referee Phil Dowd erred on the side of caution. Swansea look much livelier now though, getting dangerman Jefferson Montero involved as much as they can.

  20. Postpublished at 16:23 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2014

Former Arsenal and Wales striker John Hartson
BBC Radio 5 live sports extra at the Liberty Stadium

"Calum Chambers makes a challenge on Wilfried Bony and I have seen them given before - Chambers was on his back. Bony did go down theatrically but there was contact. Phil Dowd says no penalty.

"Mathieu Flamini has a big role for Arsenal today, Gyfli Sigurddson is the danger man for Swansea, and when he is on the ball Arsenal have to stop him operating in that hole."
