The shock of the Euro 2016 qualifying week has come in Piraeus in Greece where Claudio Ranieri's side have been beaten 1-0 by Faroe Islands, who are ranked 187 in the world. That moves the Nordic islands above the 2004 champions, who now sit rock bottom of Group F. What now for Ranieri?

Another shock of sorts occurred in Nuremberg where world champions Germany only defeated Gibraltar 4-0. Thomas Muller scored twice in the win. They move to level on points with Republic of Ireland and Scotland on seven points in Group D - Poland lead with 10 points after their 4-0 win in Georgia.

Ex-NI defender John O'Neill on BBC Radio Ulster

"When Michael O'Neill gets them together he can pick out the good points of tonight when we have defended well.

"But the point where we've fallen down is that, while we defended in Greece and Hungary, we haven't defended for prolonged spells in games like tonight. And that's something we need to work on, we shouldn't give ourselves so much defending to do."

I wouldn't go as far as to say a Scotland win here would blow Group D open, but it would certainly leave it ajar. There's a draft coming in.

Ireland pump it long, Scotland pack the defence. Five minutes left...

Ex-NI defender John O’Neill on BBC Radio Ulster

"I'm disappointed we haven't kept the ball better. I think that's a confidence thing. But at the end of the day, we're sitting with nine points from three away games and a home game.

"The Faroes are winning tonight as well, so it's still a good night to be a Northern Ireland fan.

"We knew it was going to be a tough game, and our qualification was not going to rest on this game, it's going to rest on two games with Faroes and Greece at home. Anything tonight would have been a bonus."

He doesn't miss those! Two for Romania, two for defender Paul Papp! He steals in to meet a teasing back post cross and slams in a header from close range. That could well be that for the night.
