Sadly, it's the end of the match for the talented Davidson. He sat up and was talking to the medical staff but he has now been stretchered off and Gary McDonald has taken his place in the Saints midfield.
St Johnstone midfielder Murray Davidson is receiving treatment for a face knock after a heavy collision with Nicky Law. That looked a painful one. He's looking rather groggy.
While there's a lull in play, yet more off-field Rangers news... BBC Scotland has learned that the club has taken on Sports Direct executive Barry Leach as a consultant. It follows the news that former Newcastle United managing director Derek Llambias was given a similar role earlier today. Leach is head of brands with Sports Direct, the company owned by Mike Ashley.
Keeper Alan Mannus comes off his line to make a crucial block from Kris Boyd after the Rangers striker had been put clear by a well-timed reverse Lewis Macleod pass.
Rangers striker Kenny Miller tries an acrobatic (when is it not?) overhead kick from 12 yards out but his timing is awry and Chris Millar helps to mop up the mild danger for the visitors.
I must say, I really like the AC Milan-style red and black St Johnstone away strip. In fact, if you really screw your eyes up, Dave Mackay looks a bit like Franco Baresi...
DUNKSSSSSSSSSSSSSS: "Hope this goes to pens so that Motherwell can play a tired St Johnstone side on Friday as we need all the help we can get! #bbcscotfootball
Shaun Thorpe: "Fans boycotting the game are hurting, not helping the club. #bbcscotfootball"
Brian Graham is wide with an effort and in Saints' next move Michael O'Halloran zips down the right wing and cuts the ball back towards the penalty spot where Simon Lappin is thwarted at the last minute by plucky Rangers defender Richard Foster.
Nothing in the way of goalmouth action just yet. In midfield, Ian Black has had a finger-wagging from referee Steven McLean for clattering into Saints' Murray Davidson.
Alex Coombes, in Wales, on Facebook, external: "Rangers to win 3-1, we've got a strong line up; some power upfront and we've got pace on the bench, which we might need late in the game... our home form been pretty good besides disappointing defeats against Edinburgh rivals Hearts and Hibernian but I'm looking forward to the game and we'll be up for it."
BBC Scotland reporter Richard Wilson at Ibrox
"There's a very sparse crowd here at Ibrox. Derek Llambias is sitting in the directors' box."
Rangers fans, the Sons of Struth, hold their protest outside Ibrox Stadium.
Rangers kick off the match.

BBC Scotland football pundit Allan Preston
"St Johnstone are a really good cup side and this is a hard one to call."
A Rangers fan speaks to BBC Scotland's Chick Young about the Sons of Struth fans' boycott, which we hear has had only limited backing: "This stadium holds 50,000 folk and we should be able to fill that every week, without a doubt."
Bringthemonjpn: "#bbcscotfootball I don't think that "Walter in the stand" effect can be underestimated tonight."
St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright
"There are aspects of our game we need to improve on and we know that."
