No pressure then James Wilson. Nineteen yesterday, two career goals to your name and already the future at club - and international level - with £300k-a-week Radamel Falcao on the bench.

    Time to shine...

Will Holmes in York: Losing a world class striker like Rooney is a blow to any team. However, the future of club and country is up front in James Wilson. Devastating potential.

Swansea boss Garry Monk makes two changes to the side that drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace at the weekend. Right-back Ashley Richards replaces Angel Rangel and Leon Britton returns from injury to start his first Premier League game of the season.

QPR manager Harry Redknapp recalls defender Richard Dunne following suspension in his only change as the Hoops look for a first away point as Nedum Onuoha moves across to the right-back slot in place of Mauricio Isla.

Swansea XI: Fabianski, Richards, Bartley, Williams (C), Taylor, Britton, Ki, Routledge, Sigurdsson, Montero, Bony.

QPR XI: Green, Onuoha, Dunne, Caulker, Suk-Young, Vargas, Barton, Henry, Fer, Kranjcar, Austin.

MOTD's Alistair Bruce-Ball at The Hawthorns

"Some West Brom fans have clearly lost faith in their manager Alan Irvine

"As the Baggies slipped to a third successive Premier League defeat on Saturday some sang "you don't know what you're doing" as Irvine replaced Stephane Sessegnon with Georgios Samaras and his team rather belatedly started to take the game to Arsenal.

"Too late. Saido Berahino did hit the bar with a header, but the defeat means West Brom have still only won one league game at the Hawthorns this season. But more worryingly, that run stretches to just three wins in 21 league games at home since last November."

MOTD's John Roder at Selhurst Park

"There was, and is, something special about Selhurst Park for an evening match. The atmosphere generated by Palace fans this Tuesday night should be magnificent.

"Palace defeated Liverpool in their last home match and drew at Swansea on Saturday to stop a poor run. Their total of 13 points is exactly the same as their opponents.

"But if Palace fans see their team through the glass half-full perspective, it's definitely a glass half-empty viewpoint for Villa supporters."

MOTD's Dan O'Hagan at the Liberty

"Despite yet another goal from 2014's most prolific Premier League striker Wilfried Bony, Swansea were stifled, stymied and ultimately held by Palace at the weekend.

"If Swansea had held the leads they've lost this season, they'd be only a point behind Chelsea at the top.

"Defeat at Swansea would leave the QPR away column showing seven consecutive defeats. That's relegation form. Rangers keeper Rob Green says he'd take "a boring 0-0". On behalf of the watching neutrals, I'd beg to differ!"

Burnley make one change with midfielder Scott Arfield starting after returning from injury, in place of Michael Kightly.

Line-up: Heaton, Trippier, Shackell, Keane, Ward, Arfield, Marney, Jones, Boyd, Ings, Barnes. Subs: Mee, Wallace, Kightly, Sordell, Jutkiewicz, Gilks, Long.

Newcastle's Algeria international Mehdi Abeid returns to the starting XI after recovering from a toe injury. He joins Cheick Tiote in central midfield. Papiss Cisse also starts and is expected to play furthest forward with Ayoze Perez, Sammy Ameobi and Yoan Gouffran just behind. Midfielders Moussa Sissko and Jack Colback are suspended.

Line-up: Elliot, Janmaat, Williamson, Dummett, Haidara, Abeid, Tiote, Ameobi, Perez, Cisse, Gouffran. Subs: Anita, Cabella, Steven Taylor, Riviere, Alnwick, Armstrong, Streete.

MOTD's Alistair Mann at Old Trafford

"Louis van Gaal described United's performance in Saturday's 3-0 victory against Hull as their best since he took over, and there's now a genuine belief that the Reds are going to become increasingly difficult to shift from their current position within the top four.

"To add to the growing feelings of positivity, United's record against Stoke suggests that a sixth home victory should be beckoning - they've won the last 11 meetings played at Old Trafford and prior to their 1-2 defeat at the Britannia Stadium in February, had never previously lost to the Potters since their promotion in 2008.

"Stoke's season so far has been one of exhilarating highs and baffling lows, with victories at White Hart Lane and the Etihad Stadium offset by home defeats to struggling Leicester, Burnley and Aston Villa."

  12. Postpublished at 18:55 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

MOTD's Simon Brotherton at the King Power

"The 5-3 win over Manchester United in September must seem like a long time ago now for Nigel Pearson's Leicester side, having taken just two points from the eight matches since.

"Saturday's game at QPR was a cracker and did see them score for the first time in 503 minutes through Esteben Cambiasso, but a 3-2 defeat leaves them propping up the table.

"It's such a tight league with the bottom seven separated by only three points, but Leicester are going to have to find more creativity and goals to give themselves a decent chance of staying up."

  13. Postpublished at 18:55 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

MOTD's Martin Fisher at Turf Moor

"The last time Newcastle United players took to the field at Turf Moor, Bonnie Tyler topped the charts with Total Eclipse of the Heart while on TV's Coronation Street Deirdre Barlow had just dumped Mike Baldwin to get back with husband Ken.

"It was 19 March 1983. Among those wearing the black and white stripes that afternoon were Kevin Keegan and Chris Waddle, while Mike Phelan and Trevor Steven were in claret and blue as Burnley enjoyed a 1-0 win. But that victory didn't prevent them suffering relegation into the old Division Three at the end of that season.

"Will it be a similar fate this season?"

The Premier League may be grabbing the limelight tonight but there are also a couple of League One crackers on the fixture list vying for attention.

Top-six rivals Sheffield United and MK Dons meet at Bramall Lane, with United in the middle of a five-match home run.

Nigel Clough's side are yet to really capitalise after successive draws and the Dons are flying with four wins and a draw from their last five games, thumping Colchester 6-0 last Saturday.

Elsewhere, Barnsley and Doncaster meet at Oakwell with both sides looking to pull away from the relegation places.

Donny are the form side but, as it's a derby, the words book and window come to mind.

Tonight sees Burnley and Newcastle meet up for the first time in more than 30 years, with Kevin Keegan, Mike Phelan and Chrissy Waddle all playing in the previous meeting.

Big names. But if you could drive the DeLorean up to 88, initiate the flux capacitor and bring back one player from your club's past and parachute him into the team, who would you pick, and why?

Would Eric Cantona make the difference for Manchester United? Would he even get in the side? Could a front two of Romelu Lukaku and Duncan Ferguson propel Everton into the top four? Would a teenage Emile Heskey keep Leicester up? What would Sir Stanley Matthews be like linking up with Peter Crouch?

Take it easy lads. Keep it nice and tight.

That must be Alan Pardew's favoured pre-match chat, as Newcastle haven't scored a Premier League goal earlier than the 37th minute so far this season and are the only side yet to score in the opening 30 minutes in 2014-15.

Change of tack at Turf Moor?

Few people would have picked QPR v Leicester as game of the day on Saturday but those who did were certainly vindicated by an open, reckless, bonkers 90 minutes. Over 50 attempts on goal, five scored, woodwork shaken, Harry Redknapp bouncing - it had the lot.

The net result for the Foxes was that they were dumped at the foot of the table though.

I'm sure Nigel Pearson would sacrifice all of that entertainment for a 1-0 grinder of a win against Liverpool tonight. An 88th-minute winner, a Wes Morgan header from a corner. That'll do nicely for the boys in blue.

Louis van Gaal confirms that Wayne Rooney is injured and misses out tonight - but there is no news on how long he will be missing.

He also says tonight is a big opportunity for James Wilson up top. Wilson was 19 yesterday. Let's hope he didn't celebrate like most 19-year-olds.
