Tottenham are having plenty of the ball in and around Burnley's penalty area but they are overplaying as the hosts continue to crowd them out. It has to be said, this is fairly shocking stuff early on. Things can only get better.

Dale, Derby: Derby v Chesterfield please! Be nice to see them against each other in a proper cup, rather than the pre-season Derbyshire Cup!

Chesterfield must beat Scunthorpe to set up a fourth-round derby with the Rams.

Alec: As a Liverpool fan, if we beat Wimbledon, I will relish the return of Emile Heskey to Anfield. Ready for a wave of nostalgia.

"It was a positive run by Lazar Markovic who I think was trying to cross it. It was good defending by Barry Fuller to distract him. Markovic is making some good runs, using his pace to get in behind."

"It is very flat. You want a bit of spark. Burnley are well organised in the way the back four and midfield four work together. When they are out of possession Ashley Barnes drops in. But at the moment they are not able to get into this game and hurt Tottenham."

The capacity home crowd look a little bit subdued at the moment after a raucous start. They need something to happen from the underdogs to kick them into life again. It only takes a minute.

Although at the moment, Liverpool are well on top. Lazar Markovic goes close for the visitors as he blazes a shot across goal from a tight angle.

"Plenty of noise and optimism from Wimbledon's fans in the early stages but right on cue - certainly as far as Liverpool are concerned - Steven Gerrard calms the nerves with that header.

"Every goal, every contribution, from Gerrard will now be an illustration of what Liverpool will miss when he leaves Anfield at the end of the season."

BBC Radio 5 live's Martin Keown

"Steven Gerrard is still a wonderful player, there's no doubt about that.

"I don't know whether the MLS move is about a lifestyle change for him. He can't go anywhere without being asked to sign something.

"He plays with a great deal of emotion and heart and he loves Liverpool. I don't think it's in him to play at a high level for anyone else."

Liverpool have never lost to a fourth-tier Football League club in the FA Cup, winning 10 and drawing two of the 12 matches played. It looks like they on their way to keeping that record going this evening...

That was Steven Gerrard's 181st Liverpool goal in 696 appearances. Remarkable.

Still a stalemate at Turf Moor. Neither side have had a clear-cut chance as yet.

Match of the Day's Danny Murphy

"What did we expect? It was like watching a young Steven Gerrard in the pocket playing the ball out wide and then getting in for a brave header. It was a real quality goal. He's done a lot of talking off the pitch this week - but talking on the pitch is what he does best. This will help settle Liverpool's nerves."

That was all very easy. Javi Manquillo's right-wing cross is met by Steven Gerrard inside the penalty area and he heads the ball into the net for the opener.

Are you sure you can do without Stevie G next season Brendan?

Adebayo Akinfenwa shows his strength as he bumps into Liverpool's Lucas. Unsurprisingly, it knocks Lucas over and the referee has a word with the big man.

Match of the Day's Danny Murphy

"It was a great chance for Sean Rigg. He just went too wide and dragged it. He tries to drill it into the bottom far corner. That will give AFC Wimbledon some confidence. The worry for Liverpool is it was a simple straight ball."

  16. Chance wastedpublished at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2015

Another Liverpool attack breaks down as Steven Gerrard fails to get his pass away on the edge of the penalty area. Plenty of possession for the Premier League side in the opening seven minutes but no chances of note - yet.

At the other end Sean Rigg has the best opportunity so far but drags his shot wide of goal after breaking clear on the right channel.

"You can see how organised the Burnley side are defensively. As soon as Spurs take three or four touches it allows Burnley to get back and make themselves very difficult to play through."

"This is a good surface. It's harder for lower league sides than it used to be because their advantage physically has gone with rules having been changed over the last 10 to 15 years. That's why you see less shocks."

Steve in Chingford: Spurs on their way to Wembley possibly in reference to the Capital One Cup?

Ben in Bromley: Not really premature (Spurs on their way to Wembley). We only need to beat Sheffield United over two legs and we're there....

Still a tad premature though surely?

  20. Postpublished at 20:01 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2015

Liverpool start the match on the attack. They are looking to get down the flanks but AFC Wimbledon, playing with two solid banks of four, are looking organised. They could have a lot of defending on their hands this evening.
