  1. Coming up

Just two more FA Cup third round ties left to play - except those who need to battle it out in a replay of course.

Everton entertain West Ham tomorrow night in an all-Premier League tie, while League One sides Scunthorpe and Chesterfield play each other for a fourth-round place.

You can follow live text of both games on the BBC Sport website as well as commentary on BBC Radio Live from Goodison Park. You can also follow all the reaction to tonight's games, the draw and any transfer news on BBC Sportsday from 08:00 GMT.

For me though, I bid you farewell. It's been a pleasure.

  2. Post update

    Burnley 1-1 Tottenham

    Stats

There was a lot less action at Turf Moor. At half time, neither side had managed a shot on or off target, so at least it got a bit better after the break.

  3. Post update

    AFC Wimbledon 1-2 Liverpool

    sTATS

There was certainly plenty of action at AFC Wimbledon this evening. Liverpool, as expected, had the better chances but the League Two side gave them a scare. A cracking FA Cup third round tie. Bolton at Anfield in the next round.

  4. Post update

    AFC Wimbledon 1-2 Liverpool

    Steven Gerrard

A question you expect will be asked by many for the remainder of the season.

Paul Banbridge on text: To Fran @ 22:00 - suuussshhhh! That's just silly it's not one nor the other! Brendan proved last season he is the manager to take us forward.

  6. Player reaction

    AFC Wimbledon 1-2 Liverpool

AFC Wimbledon striker Adebayo Akinfenwa: "Liverpool kept the ball and kept it well. That is more running than I've done in my career. We can go away with our heads held high.

"I like the hustle and bustle, it is the chasing the midfielders back that I don't like. I'm disappointed with the result as a draw would have been cool and to go back to Anfield. We lost to a piece of magic from Steven Gerrard. But Liverpool know they were in a game today."

  7. Manager reaction

    AFC Wimbledon 1-2 Liverpool

    Neal Ardley, AFC Wimbledon

AFC Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley: "In the first 25 minutes we looked nervous. They took me too literally about our shape but when we grew in the game and in confidence we caused them problems. In the first half, we had all of the best chances but they have some good players on the counter-attack and in the last 20 minutes we run out of legs and they had a lot of chances. I've told the players they have done the club proud but also they should kick themselves because we are in the business of winning and not being good losers."

James: If Wimbledon won it would've been Heskey vs Akinfenwa in the next round... That would be a real battle!

Hamza_15: Been an AFC Wimbledon supporter my whole life and I've never been this proud of them.

Ciaran: Can't wait to see King Emile Heskey back at Anfield.

  9. Manager reaction

    Burnley 1-1 Tottenham

Burnley manager Sean Dyche: "It was a game of very few chances. They made seven changes and had a team only £130m worth. It was a lacklustre game, with little atmosphere. We did everything to try and get a result.

"The massive plus is Sam Vokes getting a goal on his recovery. He is on his way back to full fitness. Our mentality is solid and our physicality is outstanding."

  10. Manager reaction

    Burnley 1-1 Tottenham

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino: "The first half was difficult and poor. But the second half was a turnaround. We scored and the game was ours but you never give up and they got back in the game. I am disappointed because we have to play another game. We have a lot of games ahead.

"Amazing support from our fans. Thank you very much."

  11. Scottish football latest

    Celtic celebrate

Celtic are now within a point of Scottish Premiership leaders Aberdeen and have a game in hand following a convincing 2-0 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. Kris Commons was the key player for Celtic, tormenting the home defence and peppering Craig Samson's goal with shots and twice hitting the crossbar. Aberdeen can move further ahead on Saturday if they win away to St Mirren while Celtic opt to take a one-match winter break.

  12. Manager reaction

    AFC Wimbledon 1-2 Liverpool

    Brendan Rodgers

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers told BBC Sport: "It was a very tough game, congratulations to AFC Wimbledon - they made it very difficult.

"We started well like we'd want to, controlling the game but then we lost our shape within the game. And we presented them chances by giving the ball away.

"We adapted at half-time but we still had to defend all the way through to the end. The physicality always puts you under pressure - they have good delivery. The ball came into the box consistently and of course that can be a threat. You'll never be overly comfortable in those situations.

"I've got to give a lot of testament to my players - they showed a lot of character. In the second half, we should have had two or three more goals."

  17. Player reaction

    AFC Wimbledon 1-2 Liverpool

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard: "I always enjoy the FA Cup. I've grown up loving the competition. It is going to be my last time so I want to go all the way. This is the beauty of the FA Cup, form goes out of the window. Wimbledon were honest and gave us a real test.

"If I wasn't here playing for this team I would be in the stands watching. I know what it means to the supporters and that is why I try to give it my best. We have to take each game as it comes. Bolton in the next round will be a difficult test. Winning this competition is what dreams are made of and hopefully that will be the case."

Incidentally, Gerrard will be 35 on Cup final day...

    AFC Wimbledon's goal

Incredible scenes. The home crowd are going wild as AFC Wimbledon conclude a promising last five minutes with an equaliser. A corner comes in from the left, bounces off Mamadou Sakho and loops up onto the bar. Adebayo Akinfenwa is on hand to prod the rebound home, beating Simon Mignolet to the ball. Liverpool suddenly look rattled. Cupset anyone?

Both teams come into this match in a bit of form.

Spurs have not lost in six games, winning five of them, including a 5-3 victory over Chelsea last week and a 2-1 win at home to Burnley on 20 December.

The Clarets have showed their fighting spirit to come from behind in their last two matches at Manchester City and Newcastle to record draws.

Expect changes from both this evening though.

Burnley and Tottenham are ball number 18 in the fourth round draw.

    FA Cup Rewind

We ran the 1988 FA Cup final between Wimbledon and Liverpool in full earlier and we had at least one famous follower.

Lawrie Sanchez, who scored the only goal of the game, tells BBC 5 live: "I watched the whole day on the BBC for the first time today. I just hope this modern group of players and Neil Ardley, who was a young player at Wimbledon, can achieve the same thing for themselves."

  199. Ball number 14

    Swansea City

Swansea City have a rather unwanted FA Cup record.

The Welshmen are the only current Premier League side who have never played in an FA Cup final.

They did reach the semi-finals in 1926 and 1964 but is it time for the Swans to join that elite group of winners?

    They are ball number 14.

    Ciaran Clark

Aston Villa have a fine tradition in the FA Cup having won it seven times before.

The younger generation of Villa fans may not feel such an affinity to the cup, having not lifted the trophy since 1957.

If they did manage to end that winless run this season though, let's hope they take better care of the trophy than they did 120 years ago, when it was stolen from a Birmingham shop window following their victory over West Brom.

    They are ball number 11.

    Burnley v Tottenham (19:45 GMT)

Tottenham retain only four players from the side that started the 5-3 win over Chelsea in the Premier League on New Year's Day. Defenders Federico Fazio and Jan Vertonghen, and midfielders Nacer Chadli and Christian Eriksen are that quartet. Among the seven players coming in to the side are Michel Vorm in goal, midfielder Benjamin Stambouli and striker Roberto Soldado. A sign of how far man of the moment Harry Kane has come sees the former 'cup specialist' rested. He is on the bench.

In contrast, there are just two changes for Burnley, with defender Jason Shackell (who went off injured in their previous game at Newcastle) replaced by Daniel Lafferty and Michael Kightly coming in for David Jones in midfield.

Burnley starting XI: Heaton, Trippier, Keane, Mee, Lafferty, Kightly, Marney, Arfield, Boyd, Barnes, Ings.

Tottenham starting XI: Vorm, Chiriches, Fazio, Vertonghen, Davies, Dembele, Stambouli, Chadli, Eriksen, Paulinho, Soldado.

"Great atmosphere already with plenty of memories of the original Wimbledon's FA Cup final win against Liverpool at Wembley in 1988. Victory for Neal Ardley's AFC Wimbledon - 12th in League Two - would constitute an even bigger shock.

    Adebayo Akinfenwa

Liverpool might have included some of their big players in their team this evening but surely there are none bigger than AFC Wimbledon striker Adebayo Akinfenwa.

At 5ft 11ins, he weighs more than 16 stone and can bench‑press 180kg - close to double his body weight - and is in no doubt as to the importance of the match.

"It's the biggest game, there is no bigger," the 32-year-old cult hero said. "I am a Liverpool supporter so even if I played in the Champions League final, this would be the biggest game.

"I want to play against the best so I want to go toe-to-toe with Martin Skrtel, Mamadou Sakho, Dejan Lovren and Kolo Toure."

They went on to lose to Manchester United in a final replay - the only time they have ever reached the final.

  227. Rapid rise

    AFC Wimbledon v Liverpool (19:55)

    Wimbledon

How about this for a rise then?

AFC Wimbledon were formed in 2002 by Wimbledon supporters as a reaction to the decision allowing their club to relocate to Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire.

They entered the Premier Division of the Combined Counties League, which is the ninth tier in English football and have been promoted five times since - going up from the ninth tier to the fourth (League Two).

They also hold the record of the longest unbeaten run of league matches in English senior football, having played 78 consecutive games without a defeat between February 2003 and December 2004.

  228. Getting to know the Dons

    AFC Wimbledon v Liverpool (19:55)

    Wimbledon

A few more questions to answer about Wimbledon:

Who is their manager? It seems fitting AFC Wimbledon are managed by a Dons legend, with a full understanding of the club's history. Neil Ardley, who has been their manager since 2012, made 245 appearances for the original Dons between 1991-2002.

Where do they play? They are located at Kingsmeadow in Kingston upon Thames, with a capacity of 4,850.

How have they reached the FA Cup third round? They beat League Two York in a replay in the first round before winning 1-0 at Wycombe, also in their league, in the last round.

    Wimbeldon

It was inevitable wasn't it? Liverpool v AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup was always going to equal a lot of hype about that 1988 FA Cup final.

Dave Beasant's penalty save, the Crazy Gang spirit and Lawrie Sanchez's winning header are memorable moments to anyone of a certain age as Wimbledon pulled off what many saw as the impossible to lift the cup.

This may technically be a different Wimbledon - after the original club relocated to Milton Keynes in 2002 - but a win against Liverpool would surely be an even bigger shock.

Three leagues and 72 places between the sides this evening. Can David defeat Goliath?

Spurs are no strangers to lifting the FA Cup. They have won the famous trophy eight times in their history, but haven't lifted it since beating Nottingham Forest in the 1991 final.

Burnley have won the competition once, in 1914, but did lose the 1962 final to Tottenham and were also runners-up in 1947, when they lost to Charlton.

On Friday, we published a list of John Motson's 10 greatest FA Cup third-round shocks. Unless AFC Wimbledon beat Liverpool tonight, I don't think we'll need to make any changes if we want to run it again next year.

It was a weekend of nearly-shocks. Blyth led 2-0 against Birmingham, almost went into half-time 3-0 up, but then ended up losing 3-2.

Conference club Wrexham were 10 minutes from an all-time shock before blowing a lead to lose 3-1 to Stoke.

And Southport, another Conference side, conceded a last-minute goal to lose 1-0 at Derby County.

You can watch every single goal of the third round so far on our video wall.

  236. Post update

    Christmas

If the FA Cup third round is like Christmas to football fans, then we have reached Christmas night.

All the main presents are opened. Some were made of real quality (Chelsea 3-0 Watford). Some initially looked promising but then fell apart (Blyth 2-3 Birmingham). With some, you suspected not much effort was put into it (QPR 0-3 Sheffield United). And some you didn't even pretend to look happy with (sorry Saido).

Christmas dinner is eaten and your drunk uncle who wasn't even invited has already made a fool of himself (Accrington).

All there is now to look forward to now is an evening of Pringles (other snacks in a tube are available) - aka the FA Cup fourth-round draw and a glass or two of Baileys (other alcoholic Irish cream drinks are available) aka Burnley v Tottenham and AFC Wimbledon v Liverpool.

Oh there's two games tomorrow, he remembers as his already shaky analogy falls apart. They can be Boxing Day.
