That just about wraps things up for tonight. The Champions League knockout stages hardly began with fireworks, with both games ending in cagey draws.

There is always tomorrow, though, when Real Madrid take centre stage. Until then, goodbye.

Tom Hurrell: Chelsea were lucky to get a draw. Negative, and if it wasn't for Courtois... was that a good advert for the Premier League?

Niall Lenihan: Chelsea were very poor tonight. Cahill was at fault for PSG goal. Chelsea need more bite away from home.

Anhar: I think everyone's forgetting that this was a typical Chelsea performance away from home. At Stamford Bridge they'll attack a lot more.

More from Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho: "We had the ball, we had control of the game and moved the ball really well. In the second half we lost control. I refuse to say my players were not good.

"We have one month to forget the Champions League, we have one month to play the Premier League and the Capital One Cup final.

On picking his goalkeeper: "I try to read the situation. I try to predict the profile of the game, the reality is that it is easy, they are both phenomenal goalkeepers. If football was nine players plus two goalkeepers we would be on the moon."

On the goal: "All the defenders had a feeling for a goal and it was important because a draw. I don't think favourites, Champions League knockout, last-16, top players, 1-1, never creates a clear favourite. We have a slight advantage, maybe a mental advantage."

Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard, speaking on Uefa.com:, external "Looking at how the game went, it's logical for us.

"I think we could have done better considering we've been one up. It's a good result for us. We know that at Stamford Bridge, we're stronger."

"I think Gary Cahill will start the return leg. Kurt Zouma has been playing well but he's not the finished article. Mourinho will pick games for Zouma and I don't think the Champions League quarter-final is the right game to blood a young centreback.

"I've been a senior player with youngsters coming in, and you can definitely feel the pressure. These youngsters aren't getting level, they're rising above you and getting better. It's difficult to deal with - you feel secure in the team and then all of a sudden you have to raise your game and find a way to improve your own performance."

    Matuidi

Interesting from Phil Neville, who says he scouted PSG's Blaise Matuidi - one of the more impressive players on show tonight - for Manchester United last January and a deal was almost completed.

"We wanted to sign him," he says. "We were really interested."

What might have been, if deals like this one had come off...

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, speaking to Sky Sports: "We deserved the positive result. It was a great flick from Gary Cahill and I naturally go forward to try and get the goal. We have great defenders who always try to go for the goal and defend for the team but I think everyone did well today.

"PSG had three proper strikers play the game and it was very difficult to close everything down. Thibaut Courtois made amazing saves, at the moment we don't which of our goalkeepers [are better] - they are both fantastic and it a great feeling to have someone behind you who is doing something special."

PSG defender David Luiz, speaking on Uefa:, external "Without their goalkeeper, we would have won this game. He was great. We did well. They got one goal from one opportunity, but I think we can go through over there."

Jake Pincombe: Chelsea missed Fabregas today. What? He was playing?

Joe Murphy: He'll get a league medal, but as an Arsenal fan I can tell you that Fabregas disappears in the second half of the season...

Iain Moss: The more I watch Cavani play, the more desperate I become to see him in a United shirt. The complete striker.

The return leg, by the way, is on Wednesday 11 March. Plenty of time for those five players Jose Mourinho mentions to get back up to speed.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, speaking to ITV1: "We could have lost, so I think the result is a positive one. I don't say very good because it depends on the result of the second leg but it is a positive result against a very good team with fantastic technical players. It was a difficult match."

Did Chelsea get away with it? "When you see the performance of our goalkeeper you have to say yes, he made two or three important saves in the game.

"Sometimes people speak about the players when they are injured and do not play. There are injured players who play, they don't train to play. I had five players in this game who did not train since Everton. We felt that a little.

"I am happy with the result because two legs is now one leg with everything to be decided at Stamford Bridge."

"Gary Cahill, as a centreback, shouldn't go outside the width of his keeper's posts. He got attracted towards the ball and that's why it looked like a gaping hole in which Cavani rose to score.

"From what I've seen tonight, and I'm a fan of Cahill and he's the best centreback in the England team, but he's been left out for recent high-profile games against Manchester City and Liverpool and there was hesitancy and doubt in his mind tonight. There were moments when a confident Cahill would have won the ball. He's feeling the pressure of Zouma, because Terry's form is not dropping.

"It's between Cahill and Zouma as to who will partner Terry."

QPR midfielder Joey Barton:, external "PSG much improved in the second half. Deserved a draw at least. Thought Marquinhos and Verratti were excellent. Still fancy Chelsea to progress.

"Thought Zlatan was the more negative part of his unpredictable self tonight. Cavani offers so much more through the middle."

It has ended 3-3 at the New York Stadium, where second-placed Derby came back from 3-1 down to snatch a point against Rotherham. In the other 19:45 GMT Championship kick-off, Blackburn have also nicked a point, with Rudy Gestede's 90th-minute goal giving them a 1-1 draw at Cardiff. In the 20:00 GMT kick-off it remains Reading 0-1 Wigan with about 10 minutes to play. In League One, Bristol City are looking very healthy at the top of the table following a routine 2-0 home win over Peterborough. MK Dons are second after Dele Alli's goal gave them a 1-0 win at Colchester. There were also wins for Doncaster (2-1 at home to Crewe), Sheffield United (2-1 at Notts County) and Scunthorpe (2-0 at home to Chesterfield). Mansfield beat Luton in League Two's only game of the night.

"It's always better as a side when you can keep your rhythm. Diego Costa had three games out before today, and we all thought he'd enjoy the rest, but now it'll take him a few games to get up to speed with this level of football.

"Chelsea looked well short of the drive and energy going forward in the second half. I think Jose Mourinho will be well pleased with the point."

Wrong Footed: Good result for Chelsea. PSG looked more threatening as the game went on. That away goal could prove decisive again.

Tor Noppharat: I've no complaints there. Chelsea played badly, but have not lost. They got an away goal and an improved result from last year.

Mark Wilkins: Mourinho will be pleased with that resul. A draw in Paris and an away goal too. Advantage Chelsea!

John Terry applauds at full-timeImage source, Getty Images

Chelsea captain John Terry, speaking to ITV1: "Both teams were feeling each other in the first half, Thibaut Courtois pulled off some great saves and we go away with a happy draw. Last year we made it very difficult for ourselves but we are in a lot better position now.

"PSG keep the ball very well, David Luiz's range of passing is very good so they were able to stretch us but I thought it was very even tonight.

"Branislav Ivanovic has been different class defensively this year and always has been, attacking he always poses a great threat."

"That was a brilliant second half. The intensity rose, and that was all down to PSG. Moving Cavani up front was a masterstroke from Laurent Blanc. PSG fully deserved the draw and could have gone on to win the game. Chelsea will be happy to take that draw back to Stamford Bridge. I cannot wait for the second leg."
