"It means so much to both of these managers. When West Brom were flagged offside just then, Tony Pulis hammered the linesman. I've never seen those white trainers move so fast."

Andrew:, external A centre back with pace and elegance on the ball [see 75 mins]... are we sure Stones is English? Terrific prospect.

Everton continue to boss the possession stats but what they are doing with the ball in the final third is letting them down, highlighted when Arouna Kone controls a loose ball just inside the area, but takes too long and West Brom snuff out the chance.

"Roberto Martinez is trying to encourage his players but it is still the same. Where is the plan B?"

Ross Barkley tries to wriggle through a crowd of players inside the West Brom area but it is not happening as he runs into a wall of legs and the Baggies clear.

This is tense now. Either side could win it and West Brom have half a chance through Chris Brunt, but his shot is blocked. Everton then amble back up the pitch on an attack of their own. It's not fast enough for the home fans, who vent their frustration.

Tony Pulis opts to go with his original decision and Brown Ideye is on for Victor Anichebe, who had wandered all the way to the opposite side of the pitch and has to trudge back over again.

Everton also make a change and it is Muhamed Besic off for Arouna Kone, a decision greeted by boos from the home fans.

Muhamed Besic fouls Stephane Sessegnon and is booked for doing so. Tony Pulis wants to bring on Brown Ideye but Pulis pauses with Sessegnon down injured. He was going to take off Victor Anichebe, but waits to see the extent of Sessegnon's injury.

John Stones embarks on a barnstorming run from defence, through midfield and up to the edge of the area. He has grabbed this game by the scruff of the neck and sets up a great chance for Everton to snatch the lead as he finds Ross Barkley, who then passes to Steven Naismith to tee up Romelu Lukaku, but the striker shoots wide.

Everton are still in control, they need to capitalise on this spell of pressure and Muhammed Besic goes close with a shot from distance that bounces just wide. It took a slight deflection and it is another corner, but again Everton can't make it count.

West Brom have scored a league-high 55% of their goals from set pieces this season. An error from Everton, and maybe West Brom could nick this?

Andrew in Barnsley: Penalty - it could have been First Blood to Everton but in the end it was a Rocky decision. This could be the Baggies' Escape to Victory! Or do they Lock Up shop?

Kevin in Wolverhampton: That penalty was a bit like the decision to let Phil Jones take corners on Saturday. You just ask why?

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:27 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2015

West Brom make another change and it is an interesting one as striker Saido Berahino, who scored six goals in his previous three games, is replaced by midfielder Graham Dorrans. In fairness, Berahino had not been in this game.

"Stephane Sessegnon will bring more attacking impetus to West Brom's play now you feel. Maybe that is the game plan. To get past the hour mark and if it's goalless go to more of a 4-3-3 and get at Everton a bit more."

Goodison Park has come to life and Everton are enjoying their best spell so far. Fired up from some strong words at half-time perhaps? Everton win a couple of corners, but West Brom are dealing with them at the moment.

West Brom boss Tony Pulis decides it is time to make a change and it is an attacking one as James Morrison is replaced by Stephane Sessegnon.

A bit of controversy as Everton prepare for a corner. Steven Naismith goes to ground holding his head, but replays show he's making a meal out of his little tangle with Claudio Yacob.

"It would surprise me that a manager of Roberto Martinez's stature has subbed one of his best attacking players because he has defied his orders about the penalty. For me, Leighton Baines has to be stronger about taking it."
