Yeovil break promisingly through Simon Gillet and Tom Eaves, but Eaves' foul on Jonny Evans allows the pressure to seep away.

There's the breakthrough. Without Eden Hazard or Cesc Fabregas Chelsea need some inspiration from elsewhere and Willian steps up to the plate. It's a wonderful goal too, curling into the top corner from 22 yards. A real beauty of a strike.

Wayne Rooney does some defensive dirty work back in the Manchester United box, controlling a cross on his chest and stroking a side-foot pass out from the back.

  4. CLOSE!published at 17:15 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2015

Didier Drogba is OK to carry on after that earlier niggle. And Watford so close! Troy Deeney lashes in a low shot which deflects off the ankle of Filipe Luis and skims the far post! So close.

  5. FIVE TO GOpublished at 17:14 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2015

Two big lads up front. A shaky opposition defence. This isn't the time to be too clever.

Yeovil have five minutes to find an equaliser and route one is the best place to start looking.

"The introduction of Di Maria and Mata has made a big difference. I know it's only 1-0 but certainly United are passing the ball better."

Daniel Mackay:, external Great goal by Herrera. Apart from that Man Utd have been poor. Fletcher not good enough anymore to be in the 1st team

Mark:, external Can't #getcarriedaway - all these late goals, have the Premier League teams not read their scripts?

James Porter:, external I was looking forward to a cupset why are you so cruel Stoke? Also villa? Do the honourable thing and let Blackpool through.

You can watch Ander Herrera's goal again now by using the highlights tab at the top of the page.

Manchester United are doing a good job of drawing the sting out of this situation.

Neat triangles and patient passing is wasting seconds and pumping lactic into Yeovil legs.

Their shooting is less clever. Angel Di Maria blazes high and wide from distance. More keep-ball, less football required for the visitors.

James: As a Liverpool "neutral" enjoying the match with family at St Mary's, can I suggest Liverpool add Lloyd Isgrove to the list of Southampton players we've pinch... er... bought. Tidy little terrier of a player, fast, passionate and direct. Just what we need.

There are 6,000 Watford fans inside Stamford Bridge this afternoon. They have seen their side mount a rearguard action so far, but a successful one. Chelsea have created very little.

BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty at Huish Park

Good response by Yeovil to Manchester United going ahead - but can they find that moment of quality?

Yeovil's fans have not given up on this but there is now the ever-present threat of United getting a second as the home side push forward.

    John Hartson
BBC Radio 5 live at Huish Park

"Manchester United are having a spell of keep-ball. Yeovil are struggling to get the ball and United are fizzing it about the pitch. The onus is on Yeovil but United are keeping possession."

  16. Postpublished at 17:06 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2015

Yeovil boss Gary Johnson bawls at his side to press forward and hassle Manchester United as the visitors start to pass the ball around them.

They will get possession now. Wayne Rooney has scuffed a shot over the top from Paddy McNair's pull-back. A bit of a bobble played a part there.

More Yeovil pressure. Kieffer Moore - who looks like a player - wriggles inside his man and sees his curling shot deflected just wide off Chris Smalling. Another corner, more pressure, added volume.

    Eighteen minutes to play.
