South Africa have given themselves a chance. They are going out as it stands but a goal in either game will change things.
Yacien Brahimi, diminutive, stands over a free-kick for Algeria in a wide area. It will be an in-swinger and it will be an audition for Algerian rugby as the whipped effort sails over the bar. A superb conversion.
South Africa look dangerous when they do attack and almost double their lead. Bongani Ndulula rises well at the far post but his downward header is parried away by goalkeeper Brimah Razak.
Much better from Senegal as they summon their inner Sam Allardyce (not with his present style).
A couple of crosses into the box get knocked down and shots are blocked, then a third header looks like Mame Biram Diouf will convert from six yards but Rais M'Bohli is brace to block at feet.
I believe the term 'keep the attack alive' was what that was all about.
Ghana are growing increasingly impatient. They don't deserve to be behind but the longer this goes on, the more desperate the Black Stars will become.
Adam Smith:, external Ross Barkley's trim last season was priceless especially with the way the light bounced off his head!
Given Asamoah Gyan has a head worth showing off, we are asking you for football's most unique hair cuts. Tweet #bbcafcon2015.
Algeria will be thrilled with this start. They are shading possession and quite comfortable with the lead.
A dangerous area here for a set-piece delivery...it's Riyad Mahrez...whipped in but cleared at the near post.
Senegal need to show more and Mame Biram Diouf is brilliantly released through the middle for them but out rushes Algeria keeper Rais M'Bolhi to sweep up. That was a close race.
Ghana look as though they have a goal in them this evening. Baba Rahman's fierce volley is hit straight at goalkeeper Nhlanhla Khuzwayo, who is alert enough to parry the ball wide.
Don't forget, South Africa have led before in this tournament before throwing it away.
A reminder that Riyad Mahrez's strike for Algeria was a straight-forward route one free-kick, collected unmarked in the box. The type of defending you see in junior football.
Hardly surprising when before today...
Make that 14...
Don't forget we could have a drawing of lots to decide who goes through in second. If the South Africa game stays the same and Senegal lose 2-0, it will be down to pot luck.
This game looks like it will deliver goals as there is space to play with in midfield. Algeria have not really been tested but we saw in Senegal's opening game that they grow into a contest.
They decimated Ghana in the second period that day, so don't count them out yet. Papy Djilobodji has a dig from 30 yards for them and his free kick whistles wide. Good hit.
Poor old Cheikh M'Bengue is in a bad way. He took a right mullering there and it was completely unintentional. A head clean in the face has got to hurt.
On comes Pape Souare.
I can understand South Africa fans getting very excited at the moment but, as it stands, they are still going out on goal difference. They need to score a couple more or hope Senegal ship more to Algeria...
Sunil Parmar:, external That's what Mahrez is capable of. Makes stuff look easy! Love seeing him do that for my club!
South Africa enjoyed a successful Africa Cup of Nations debut by winning the tournament they hosted in 1996, having been banned for the previous 39 years because of apartheid.
They finished runners-up in Burkina Faso two years later and then third in the next tournament, hosted by Nigeria and Ghana in 2000.
Since then though, they haven't progressed beyond the quarter-final, a round they reached in 2013. Are they on for something special this time round?
We have some blood pouring from the head of Senegal defender Cheikh M'Bengue. This is a real watch-through-your-eyes moment.
The Rennes player jumps but with no intent, Algeria's Aissa Mandi heads him straight in the face. Blood on a white shirt and M'Bengue is not good on his feet. He will likely go off and have a sore head for a bit.
Jeremiah Kariuki:, external That goal by Masanga of Bafana Bafana may go a long way to be a goal of the tournament!
Nathan Titus:, external Masango goal... Reminds me of the SA great, Masinga.
A swarm of green shirts come forward for Algeria in a line but striker El Arbi Soudani has one thing in his mind, cutting in from the left to force a diving save from distance. You can't take your eyes off this though as Southampton's Sadio Mane goes up the other end and a powerful run ends as he fires over the bar.
A chance for Senegal.
BBC Sport's Matthew Kenyon in Mongomo: Bafana coach Mashaba did a little jig on the touchline as that stunning strike goes in from Masango - another of the players he's brought back for this game. But the South African reporters sitting next to me remind us that they've taken the lead in both their other games!
