Liverpool might as well give up on getting a second as Jordan Henderson bursts into the box but his cross hits a defender before Mario Balotelli also gives the ball away. Meandering to a 1-0 away win now.

"There's been a lot of attention on whether things aren't right inside the Everton dressing room, but you don't fight until the last minute like they did against West Ham in the FA Cup if you have poor team spirit."

Weather conditions here at Goodison Park no different to the rest of the country - and Everton have just confirmed the game will start at 3pm as planned after some minor repair work was carried out at the ground caused by the high winds, causing the gates to be opened 15 minutes late.

Everton ended a run of four defeats - all in the Premier League - when Romelu Lukaku's injury-time goal earned them an FA Cup third round replay against West Ham United but this will be a tough test for an out-of-sorts side against reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

City, level on everything with Chelsea at the top of the table, and are without Yaya Toure, who is away at the Africa Cup of Nations. Fernando replaces Toure while Joe Hart is back for Willy Caballero in goal. And another boost is Sergio Aguero being named on the bench, along with Frank Lampard.

"I think Sunderland will be involved in a relegation fight for the rest of the season unless they show more than this. I think they have too much in their squad to go down, but they need start getting some results at home. Certainly they will be looking anxiously looking at the results of the teams in and around them later on today."

"Mario Balotelli did really well, with the whole pitch in front of him to run at goal only to lose his footing. I shouldn't laugh, but it's hard not to."

There will be no Sam Allardyce on the touchline for West Ham today, with the Hammers boss struggling with a chest infection, so his assistant Neil McDonald is the man in charge. He looks delighted about that...

Danny Graham is making his first Sunderland appearance since September. I always see it as a sign of a manager running out of ideas when he brings players he obviously doesn't rate back in from the cold.

Swansea boss Garry Monk makes eight changes to the side that beat Tranmere 6-2 in the FA Cup last weekend. Wilfired Bony is away on international duty, so Bafetimbi Gomis gets the chance to make his mark in attack.

West Ham are without Alex Song, who misses out because of illness. Hammers striker Diafra Sakho is ruled out with the back injury so Enner Valencia starts, while Kevin Nolan is also in the first XI with Morgan Amalfitano on the bench.

Swansea XI: Fabianski, Rangel, Fernandez, Williams, Taylor, Britton, Carroll, Dyer, Sigurdsson, Routledge, Gomis.

West Ham XI: Adrian, Jenkinson, Tomkins, Reid, Collins, Cresswell, Noble, Nolan, Downing, Carroll, Valencia

Heading into the final 15 minutes and Sunderland win a corner which is lumped in by Seb Larsson and Simon Mignolet just about smothers the ball six yards out as John O'Shea, turning slower than a HGV, prepared to pounce.
