Samuel Adams:, external Looks like Gus Poyet has set up the team to surrender, some managers just get scared of clubs with a big name and history.
Sunderland are angry as they win the ball back from Liverpool and look to counter but the referee blows for a foul and the visitors are able to regroup. Gus Poyet is not impressed.
Liverpool's France international Mamadou Sakho is wearing a black armband today in memory of the victims of the attacks in Paris which happened this week.
Ipswich still look the more progressive side but are struggling to break down Derby's defence. Looks like this could be a tight one and you can sense the nerves from the crowd. A win for Ipswich moves them top, while a Derby victory puts them above their hosts into second.

"Fabio Borini was clattered as the ball went through but the referee allowed play to go on. It was an unorthodox finish from Lazar Markovic but he got enough on it to put Liverpool ahead."
Liverpool in front - and they are grateful for some good refereeing as, during an intricate move in the final third, Fabio Borini is fouled on the edge of the box. However, the ball runs for Lazar Markovic and the ref plays advantage as the forward bundles his way into a shooting position and deposits his first league goal for Liverpool past Costel Pantilimon.
While John Murray looks for a television engineer in the stands, Sunderland finally get a touch of the ball. Despite all of the early possession for Liverpool, the match is being played at a fairly steady pace. Patient early probing from the visitors who should really have had a penalty in the third minute.

"I had hoped to see a television replay of that penalty incident on the little TVs we have in our commentary position. Unfortunately I spent 20 minutes fiddling with the little TV monitor, but couldn't get it to switch on!"

"Jordan Henderson is a very good player for Liverpool. He's got a long way to go to be at the level of Steven Gerrard but is the natural man to fill some of that void when he goes to MLS. He hasn't got the kind of goals and assists Gerrard has in his career, but if he can add that it will help Liverpool going forward."
Sunderland have hardly touched the ball yet, and they've certainly not progressed into the final third. Liverpool bossing the show early on.

"Steven Gerrard in a more advanced role for Liverpool as he was against AFC Wimbledon on Monday."

"It did look like a penalty. It was a great diagonal run from Lazar Markovic and a late tackle from Wes Brown. Markovic was furious afterwards. There was contact."
It's a chilly, sunny day on Wearside, with Liverpool decked out in yellow and Sunderland in traditional red and white stripes. The visitors are having lots of the ball early on and should have an early penalty when Wes Brown runs across Lazar Markovic and sends the midfielder tumbling in the box. Sunderland have got away with one there.

"Sunderland's problem to me seems to that they have only won once at home this season, and their form at the Stadium of Light has always seemed to be a problem right back to when I was a player here. It's something that needs to be addressed. It's the draws as well, they've actually lost less games than Liverpool, but just need to convert some of them into wins."
The players emerge from the tunnel at the Stadium of Light. Here's a quick reminder of the line-ups.

Mark Lawrenson: "I understand it is too late for the FA to intervene in this case but, there should be something like a fit and proper persons test, absolutely set down indicating whether or not you can go anywhere near someone like Ched Evans until everything has been resolved.
"It has become a circus. Sometimes, from reading everything this week, you are actually almost thinking is he a victim as well? It is just madness.
"It is all reason for the FA to come out with the guidelines. The FA has been conspicuous by their absence."
Martin Keown: "It is a very toxic subject. At the moment, the situation is he has come back a little too soon. It has not been handled in nearly the right way and I think the public have decided they don't want him back.
"There is a court process and he would be better served waiting until the end of that before thinking of coming back into the game."
