"What a ball in again from Blind for Mata in behind the Southampton defence and he just has to score there as the ball falls to him."

Mfreke Smith:, external This Southampton team reminds me of Liverpool last season.

Belete Eshetea:, external Time to seriously consider Southampton top four contenders!

Daniel Mackay:, external Not for the first time this season Man Utd's defence all over the place. More money needs to be spent to improve this team.

    Robbie Savage

"What a chance, it's a great ball in from Daley Blind and Fraser Forster doesn't know where he's going with it as he peddles back.

"An open goal and Juan Mata puts it wide on the volley. What a miss."

Another chance for Juan Mata who fires over from six yards after another super Daley Blind cross. That was a poor miss and Mata knows it. He is furious with himself. United have 10 minutes to save this.

Juan Mata...so close to equalising. Daley Blind crosses and Fraser Forster flaps. The ball falls to the former Chelsea man whose first time low shot whistles narrowly wide.

    Robbie Savage
BBC Radio 5 live at Old Trafford

"Pelle has tried to do the turn there, but as he has put one foot on the ball, he's dragged his other foot round and caught Mata. That's not a free-kick at all."

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 17:33 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January 2015

Graziano Pelle is harshly booked for a foul on Juan Mata. Southampton need to keep their cool in these final few minutes. Moments later Michael Carrick is cautioned for a late challenge on goalscorer Dusan Tadic. This game is bubbling.

    Robbie Savage
BBC Radio 5 live at Old Trafford

"I'm interested to see what Louis van Gaal does now tactically against this very smart Southampton team. Is that what they're going to resort to now, long balls up to Fellaini?"

  9. Postpublished at 17:30 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January 2015

This has been awful by United. No shots on target, lack of urgency, low tempo. Southampton have been outstanding in defence.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 17:29 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January 2015

Manchester United respond by sending on Marouane Fellaini for Angel Di Maria. If it stays like this Southampton will leapfrog United into third spot the table.

Ben Hibburd:, external Another awful display again from Man Utd today. With the attacking talent they have been woeful.

Tom Holmes:, external Four United defenders around that ball and I'm not sure that a single one of them knew where they were or what they were doing

Stephen Curtis:, external Arsenal to finish 3rd and saints 4th...Man Utd''s luck is starting to run out....

"United's back three are all over the place in the box there. Blackett has got sucked into a position and hasn't got time to recover.

"You thought they'd missed the opportunity Southampton when Pelle hit the post, but it's a great side-foot finish there from Tadic.

Breakthrough! And it's come to Southampton as substitute Dusan Tadic sweeps home from close range after Graziano Pelle hits the post with a low shot inside the area. Tadic celebrates by whipping off his shirt and is booked. He doesn't seem to care.

    Robbie Savage

"We could do with a moment of magic from someone. We've got some players out there capable of delivering one, but it's all been so methodical so far."

  16. Postpublished at 17:24 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January 2015

Despite two changes, Manchester United continue to lack any sense of urgency. Six straight home league wins? Not at this rate.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January 2015

A change for Manchester United, and not one you would imagine is going to trouble the shots on target stat - defender Tyler Blackett on for Luke Shaw.

After a huge delay due to a wrong shirt, Dusan Tadic is finally on the pitch for Saints signing Eljero Elia - but not before Wayne Rooney misses a flashing Angel Di Maria cross.

Abdul Said:, external After this game, I can't see any team stopping Southampton apart from Chelsea and Man City so top four is imminent if not a certain.

Graham Green:, external Looks like Southampton have already started playing for the draw, with more then half an hour to go. Dangerous strategy.

MUFC believer:, external This game is more of Van Gaal v Koeman, than United v Southampton.

  20. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 17:18 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January 2015

Robin van Persie leaves the fieldImage source, PA

Dusan Tadic is coming on for Southampton. But his appearance is delayed as he doesn't have the right shirt and a member of the backroom team has to rush back to the visitors dressing room to get the correct one. Meanwhile, Robin van Persie is replaced by Ander Herrera for Manchester United. Not one of Van Persie's better games.
