Lots of attack-minded players in the Manchester United side but there is always the danger that a rich forward line will leave their defence exposed, so it has proved on a couple of occasions, with Southampton perhaps a little unlucky not to be 1-0 up.

"When United are attack, they go forward in numbers and leave only four at the back. If Southampton can get the ball in those moments, there's a chance for them to get in on the break as it's not the four quickest players that are left behind for United."

The good people of Opta have just sent me some early stats. And they make interesting reading. United's passing accuracy so far stands at 90%.

Manchester United are playing with width. Luke Shaw is eager to push forward at every opportunity against his old club and the hosts are now enjoying a period of possession after early Southampton pressure. Neither keeper has yet to make a serious save. All pretty even so far.

If Southampton finish in the top six and Burnley stay up, it should be a straight fight for manager of the year between Ronald Koeman and Sean Dyche."
