"Great defending from Cambridge (see 78 mins) - a fantastic example of why they are still in this game. We've seen some great attacking play from Manchester United but Cambridge have been defending brilliantly. The chairman will be having a heart attack with so many players going forward though."

Tremendous noise still inside the Abbey Stadium, but the intensity and bounce in the stands is not being echoed by the multi-millionaires in white. having said that, there is a chance as Angel Di Maria plays a neat one-two and cuts it back, but great defending again to clear it away!

A few of you on social media have drawn comparison between Phil Jones - taking the corners for Manchester United tonight - and former England captain David Beckham, who had rather more success as a set-piece taker.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:29 Greenwich Mean Time 23 January 2015

Still not one slip or lapse in concentration from the Cambridge back four and you have to admire that. They have defended their penalty area brilliantly.

And what a story this would be. Ex-Manchester United man Luke Chadwick is on for the final 15 minutes. He gets a huge ovation as he replaces Liam Hughes.

  13. Postpublished at 21:28 Greenwich Mean Time 23 January 2015

Former Cambridge United striker Steve Claridge
    BBC Sport

"Cambridge have offered very little in this second half. I think there has been about three long balls forward, that's about it. But let me tell you, if they get anything out of this game they will have earned it."

  14. Postpublished at 21:27 Greenwich Mean Time 23 January 2015

That's two good chances for Manchester United now. Cambridge may not get a third life.

They are 18 minutes away from a money-spinning replay but if they are to survive that long they need to push out and try and retain the ball a bit.

Easier said than done! Obviously. But seeing out another 20 minutes of this siege looks a long shot.

"Robin van Persie just didn't get his bearings right- he hit it with far too much pace when he only had to tickle it over the onrushing 'keeper. He's probably still cold- he's only been on five minutes. But what an opportunity that was."

  16. Postpublished at 21:25 Greenwich Mean Time 23 January 2015

    Martin Keown
BBC Sport at the Abbey Stadium

"You expect more from Robin van Persie and a striker of his quality. He has to keep that down. Manchester United are starting to show those flashes, but they have to take those chances."

  17. CLOSE!published at 21:25 Greenwich Mean Time 23 January 2015

Ah it's a great chance for Manchester United. Angel Di Maria with the moment of class, had the time and space to loft a through-ball over the top to free Robin van Persie. The ball takes an awkward bounce and he is wide on the left of the goal but he hurries his shot and fires well over the bar.

Had to hit the target really.

Corner taker, playmaker, now Phil Jones shoots on the run from 30 yards. It ends up in the stands and Robin van Persie gives him a filthy look.

We are approaching the time when those huddled in the Abbey Stadium press box will be filing their first takes for tomorrow's early editions. A brave man to write his intro yet.

Surely this level of Manchester United possession must yield another clear opening?
